Apparently Some Congressional Liberals Still Don’t Know Their Role

J.J. Jackson* | March 16, 2007

Every week it seems liberals try the same tactic thinking (or feeling) that simply trying one more time will result in their victory.

WASHINGTON - Democratic leaders, after weeks of delay, Wednesday managed for the first time to bring a binding resolution to the Senate floor that would bring U.S. soldiers home from Iraq. Republicans remained confident they could kill the proposal, and the White House threatened a veto, raising constitutional concerns.

Democrats want the new proposal to supersede the 2002 resolution that authorized the Iraq invasion. It would restrict troop movements and set March 31, 2008, as a target date to bring U.S. soldiers home.

Well, I just checked my copy of the Constitution and low and behold it is the same as it was last week. And it clearly states that the President is Commander in Chief and that congress can only declare and fund war. No where does it say Congress controls troops movements, etc.

People thought I was joking about the need for a Constitutional Convention to clarify these kinds of things so that even the dimwitted of liberals can understand them. Now maybe those of you that scoffed see the pressing need for such.

A constitutional convention? My God! Don’t you realize that a constitutional convention can consider throwing out the old constitution and instituting another? This is the wrong way to do things because the constitution we have now is fine. You can’t make people be smart when they are set on being stupid. And even if we had a convention and strengthened or clarified certain elements of our constitution, liberals would still interpret it the way they want. Hold a constitutional convention? No. Let liberals continue to make fools of themselves to everyone except themselves? Yes. That is the safest way.

Like Jeff always says, too many people don’t understand sarcasm when they see it and this is how they react.

Herb, Jeff probably (and I am confident in saying this) understands the problems with such a thing more than you do. If you would have actually read the article which he refers to about the Constitutional Convention you might have understood it.
