Only Liberals Still Love the Dixie Chicks

In order to try and boost the ego of the Dixie Chicks, Hollywood gave the gals five Grammies. Well, they needed something to try and support their claims of relevance since they have been shunned by the Country Music Awards and country music stations in general I guess.

Country radio still isn’t ready to make nice with the Dixie Chicks.
With a haul of Grammys Sunday, the Texas trio topped their comeback from their 2003 Bush-bashing comment that turned them from superstars to pariahs - but Music Row isn’t welcoming them back into the country- music fold.

“Most country stations aren’t playing the Chicks, and they aren’t going to start now,” said Jim Jacobs, owner of WTDR-FM, a country radio station in Talladega, Ala.

The awards might have the opposite effect, sparking another radio backlash against the group. Country broadcasters said Monday that the group’s five Grammys show how out of touch the Recording Academy is from the average country fan.

“I think (the listeners) are outraged,” said Tony Lama, program director for KXNP in North Platte, Neb. “This is rural, conservative America. They are just disgusted.”

Natalie Maines continues to show her disdain for country music fans as well in yet another hissy (or is that “hussy”?) fit.

“Country music, as far as radio and the industry, they are all right there on four blocks in Nashville,” Maines said after the show Sunday.

But the truth is that she is just bitter and pleased as punch that even though the Dixie Chicks are struggling someone, somewhere recognized her more for her political opinions than her actual talent and success.

The Dixie Chicks peaked at No. 36 on the Billboard country charts with “Not Ready to Make Nice.” That ought to disqualify them from winning best country album, said Jacobs, the Alabama radio station owner.

“How do you win country music album of the year, when country music radio is not playing you?” he said.

The answer to that is simple. The left never rewards quality of work and actual success. They instead reward people who say what they want to hear and act the way they are expected to act.

It’s a perverse way of thinking but it is the way they think none the less. Think of it as Marxism but applied to music. Instead of redistributing wealth they are redistributing success to those that they believe desire to have it. Sure they didn’t really earn it. But that’s not the point.

I am going to buy the album because this is just getting out of hand. They have the most beautiful voices and I love them.

Wait, let me get this straigh. The Dixie Chicks are blaming everyone in the world for a vast conspiracy agaisnt them because they aren’t willing to take the heat for the stupid things they have said and you are going to reward them? Hence it is “out of hand” because they think that people should gobble up what they say no matter how idiotic and worship them.

Boy, remind me that if I every write a book or record an album to count on you to buy it no matter what I say.
