Liberal Logic Defies Logic

J.J. Jackson | February 11, 2007

When you can’t take the heat, start complaining about the source. That seems to be the latest tactic of Barack Obama when it comes to anyone that would dare criticize his Iraq policy (which basically “Cut & Run”).

Prime Minister John Howard has set off a firestorm between Australia and the US Democratic Party after he criticized the Iraq policy of Barack Obama, a wildly popular Democrat who is potentially the next president of the US.

Mr Howard, a close ally of current Republican president George W Bush, said a presidential win by Mr Obama, who wants to withdraw US combat troops from Iraq, would be welcomed by al-Qaeda.

Democrats have reacted with disdain, with Mr Obama saying if Mr Howard is so strongly supportive of the war in Iraq then he should send another 20,000 Australian troops into battle.

“I would also note that we have close to 140,000 troops in Iraq, and my understanding is Mr Howard has deployed 1,400, so if he is … to fight the good fight in Iraq, I would suggest that he calls up another 20,000 Australians and sends them to Iraq,” Mr Obama told reporters in the mid-western US state of Iowa.

Mr. Howard pointed out that 20,000 more soldiers would be half of the entire Australian military.

“That would be half of our army. Australia is a much smaller country than the United States and so he might like to weigh that up,” Mr Downer told ABC radio.

“It’s entirely appropriate the Australian government expresses its view in a free world. You won’t get anywhere trying to close down debate.”

But Mr. Howard, that doesn’t matter. What matters is that YOU dared to criticize a liberal and how DARE you do that!

Mr. Howard’s original comment that set off this latest tizzy among the liberals is that

“If I were running al-Qaeda in Iraq, I would put a circle around March 2008 and be praying as many times as possible for a victory not only for Obama but also for the Democrats.”

Which is, no matter how much the left hates it, basically true. All we hear is talk about how they are going to get us out of Iraq by basically withdrawing troops. And if I was the one fighting to oppress the Iraqis, I would be DAMN glad to hear that and praying for such a candidate to win.

It’s not that hard to understand how telling the enemy that you are going to give up and let them win is a bad tactic. Unless you’re a liberal that is …

“When you can’t take the heat, start complaining about the source.”

Like the “Liberal Media”? See the category on this site.

Another comment in which ammonius, unable to actually refute anything said in a post resorts to mindless banter.

I’ve said before to others but I think it applies to you too ammonius. Perhaps you should complete ONE topic before moving on to a new one. I don’t think Tony is done with you in the other one yet.

Unfortunately your comment is yet the latest in the long line of comments that do nothing but waste air.

The “Liberal Media” section of this site discusses liberal bias in the media and supports those discussions with facts (ie actual citations). There is a difference between dealing with reality (which the left rarely does) and dealing with unverifiable accusations (which the left loves to do).

Do you have anything of imporatance to say or do you just like seeing people respond to your off the wall comments?

“I don’t think Tony is done with you in the other one yet.”

No, I’m done with his “I don’t think that it can happen even though history proves me wrong and you are silly for disagreeing with me” crap in the other thread. But looks like ammonius is getting ready to move on to the next best thing.

Hey, I’ll admit, the posts in Jeff’s “Liberal Media” section do generally tend to show liberal bias by the reporters. I don’t mind that he wants to talk about that. It’s his right on his blog.

“Do you have anything of imporatance to say or do you just like seeing people respond to your off the wall comments?”

I think we have verified that it is the second.

Wait, so let me get this straight. Because the author of this site points out a bias in certain aspects of the media that has something to do with Barack Obama basically having a hissy fit over being critized by a foreign leader for something that is so obvious that even you can see it?

Did you bend space time to make that incredible leap of “logic”?

  7. FlashGooGoo on February 11th, 2007 8:23 pm

Why do people feel the need to make senseless comments? ammonius what do you mean by that? Obviously nothing since you didn’t actually say anything.

Serious question. Has Barack Obama ever served in the military? We always hear from people on the left how if you aren’t in the military or haven’t served you shouldn’t have an opinion on how the military should be run.

I know that Hillary has never served so that disqualifies her from being Commander in Chief.

“We always hear from people on the left how if you aren’t in the military or haven’t served you shouldn’t have an opinion on how the military should be run.”

I think that’s a silly comment to make, and I’d count myself as a liberal. Though if folks care to know I voted for Dole in 1996, the last Republican I voted for was McCain in the 2000 primary. So I’m not a life-long Democrat.

  10. PinguMama on February 11th, 2007 9:24 pm

“I’d count myself as a liberal.”

I think I speak for everyone here when I say DUH! We already figured that one out!

You know what they say PM. Admiting you have a problem is the first step to fixing that problem. We can only hope that is ammonius first step.

Obama is muslim in hiding. Its time for the crusades to begin again.

“Obama is muslim in hiding. Its time for the crusades to begin again.”

I think that comment about the crusades is just a little over the top. The last thing that is needed is to worry about long term control of a region outside of the United States.

Woah there joe, take a downer k?

  15. TonyTMan on February 12th, 2007 8:55 pm

*sniff* *sniff* Maybe my nose betrays me but this new guy smells like a plant trying to see if they can prove what people like ammonius want to believe about conservatives.

I could be wrong, but if I am not, just a heads up – it won’t work.
