I thought the Iraqis Weren’t “Stepping Up”?

Day after day we hear complaints about how the Iraqis are not taking enough initiative in Iraq. The truth however is much different and ever now and again a story that shows it slips by the editors.

By ROBERT H. REID. AP. AP/ALAA AL-MARJANI. A wounded Iraqi soldier is evacuated in Zaraq, Iraq, about 12 miles northeast of the Shiite holy city of Najaf, during clashes between insurgents and US-backed Iraqis.
The truth is that across the vast majority of Iraq it is Iraqis that are in the lead only being supported by U.S. troops and it is the Iraqis that are fighting against terrorists from all over the middle east trying desperately to suppress the them to their will and Sharia Law.
