Britain Bans Cheesy Ads
J.J. Jackson* | January 4, 2007
No joke. “Cheese” is now considered a junk food and deemed to be banned from children’s programming. So gentlemen, START YOUR BUREAUCRACIES!
Cheese is to be treated as junk food under new advertising rules for children’s television.
Commercials promoting it will be banned during children’s TV programmes and those with a large proportion of young viewers.
The rules, which come into force this month, are part of a Government drive to reduce children’s exposure to foods high in fat, salt and sugar.
Much to the disgust of its makers, cheese is to be regarded in the same light as crisps, sugary cereals and cheeseburgers.
In fact, under the criteria used by the Food Standards Agency to determine junk foods, such products are actually regarded as healthier than cheese.
Absolutely humorous but exactly what you can expect from socialist driven bureaucrats who believe that they should have obscene government control over private businesses like television stations.
Especially when your have people like “Doug” from Florida who agrees “It’s a start - ads for tobacco, alcohol, pharmaceutical drugs and non-organic foods (which are more dangerous than people think) should be banned from ALL television shows, for adults & children. People wonder why adults & children are so unhealthy. Start banning these ads, and see if there is some improvement.”
Yep, the “Food Police” are out in Gestapo like force. Hey Dougie, ALL foods are “dangerous” if they are over consumed. Ever see that idiot who made “Supersize Me” to prove what any person with more than two active brain cells already knew? In fact ALL substances including water cause death if ingested in large quantities. Ever hear of drowning?
Hmmm. I smell a new campaign! BAN ADS FOR WATER NOW!
Last time I looked people where not falling over dead from eating a slice of cheese on their burger. So take your nutty “government should do something to make people act like me” attitude and blow it out your ass!
Either you believe in liberty or you don’t. Apparently Doug and his comrades in Britain do not.
