Kyoto Protocol “Not Good Politics”

If you can’t get people into Kyoto and destroy their economies that way try to force them to comply. That was the proposal of none other than our friends the French.

EU trade chief to reject ‘green’ tax plan
By Andrew Bounds in Brussels

The European Union’s trade commissioner will on Monday dismiss French proposals for a “green” tax on goods from countries that have not ratified the Kyoto treaty as not only a probable breach of trade rules but also “not good politics”.

Peter Mandelson says that the levy, aiming to cancel the competitive advantage of countries that are not cutting carbon emissions to fight global warming, would be “highly problematic under World Trade Organisation rules and almost impossible to implement in practice”.

Thankfully someone in Europe has their head screwed on straight. Kyoto has been such a failure anyway with countries that signed on looking to get out as it is. So I guess trying to punish people who will not abide by the global plan is only a logical step for socialists and communists.
