Illinois’ minimum wage heading upQuincy Herald Whig
By Doug Wilson. SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Illinois lawmakers have approved legislation that will increase the minimum wage by $1 per hour to $7.50 on July 1, followed by three annual 25-cent additions that bring the wage to $8.25 in 2010.
Oh, but wait, there is more! You didn’t think the bloated fat cats in the legislature would just raise the minimum wage did you?
Heck no! Residents of the state will also have to pay for increased salaries for the legislators too!
Senators also voted to raise their own salaries and those of other top state officials by 15.6 percent. That still needs House approval, however.
