Maybe We Shouldn’t Have A UN Ambassador

US envoy to UN may not win nomination
Earthtimes.org
WASHINGTON: The next casualty of the Democratic sweep in the US Congress could be the country’s envoy to the United Nations, John Bolton.
Democrats are already saying that John Bolton’s nomination to be UN Ambassador is DOA. So much for “bi-partisanship” huh?
But would it be so bad if we just said that we would not be part of the United Nations any more and not supply an ambassador? Hmmm.
It’s hard to argue against Bolton’s nomination except from the standpoint that he is simply George Bush’s nominee and the left in America has never liked his approach to dealing with thuggish children at the United Nations.
The man has done nothing to warrant not being approved after serving as the Ambassador through a recess appointment. But as we all know “bi-partisanship” with the left means they expect you to compromise your beliefs with theirs which are 180 degrees out of phase with yours and give them part of what they want or you get nothing.
The Constitution grants the President the power to nominate ambassadors and the Senates roll is simply to act as a check and make sure they are qualified. Their role is NOT to throw a tantrum and refuse a nominee because he or she is not of their political orientation.
Just wait and see the fireworks should another Supreme Court nominee be needed before 2009 roles around.
