Important Information For Registered Users

I have noticed that the anonymous “post by email” function has not been operating properly. This failure of the script came to my attention yesterday as we were dealing with “Alex”/“Mike”.

As many of you know, since American Conservative Daily switched servers the ability for members to register with the site has been broken BUT existing members have still be able to post via email and have their personal information (such as email) hidden from non registered users and their IP address listed as a generic value if they chose these options to avoid this information becoming readily available to others.

It appears that randomly, this script has failed and some IP addresses were sent out with post notifications. No unwanted email addresses were sent. No other information was sent. I have already contacted the members who had this happen and they are on alert for suspicious behavior. None have commented that there have been any problems.

As a precaution to prevent further information from becoming available registered and unregistered users will temporarily be unable to “subscribe” to posts since this appears to be where the error has occurred and how the information is being sent.

Jeff and I have been keeping a close eye on this issue to see if any further problems persist and my son (who is the computer guru and wrote the original script) is working on finding and fixing the problem.

Until then, please use the “anonymous” post by email function knowing this but also knowing that no new information is going out to non registered members.
