Caution: Government Bureaucracy At Work
J.J. Jackson* | October 12, 2006
There are more mistakes and more red faces tonight at the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
The ballots of over 5,000 absentee voters could be affected.
This comes after we told you last week that absentee ballots went out with the wrong political parties for the candidates in one state race. Democrat Kenny Yuko listed as a Republican and Republican Beverly Valencic was wrongly called a Democrat.
Officials are pushing voters to use the absentee ballots to prevent a repeat of May’s debacle and hoping to avoid another hand count.
Over the weekend, an eight-person team of spellcheckers re-proofread ballots and found a mother load — 14 more mistakes. Mainly small things such as, candidates names with different spacing, spelling, punctuation and wording affecting city issues and local liquor or zoning options all over the county. - WKYC
What the Hell? Doesn’t anyone check these things BEFORE they print them? They probably did but apparently the original checkers had about the equivalent of a 3rd grade education – which would mean your typical bureaucrat.
Ok, maybe I could understand ONE misspelling of a really difficult name but to have so many mistakes should result in whoever was originally tasked with checking the ballots being fired. And what’s more they should be totally ineligible for their state pension AND unemployment benefits for gross negligence.
Someone was getting paid good money to surf porn sites all day at work apparently.
