Remember Civilians Are Dying Because Of Hezbollah
J.J. Jackson* | July 23, 2006
This story from the Australian is fairly typical. It talks about how many civilians the Israelis have killed compared to how many the terrorists in Hezbollah have.
Israel’s 12-day-old onslaught in Lebanon to cripple Hezbollah has claimed 357 lives, mostly civilians. Hezbollah attacks and rockets have killed 35 Israelis.
But unlike many other stories about the current war (and it is a war) the author reminds us why this is true.
Israeli aircraft repeatedly bombed the Haret Hreik neighbourhood in south Beirut, flattening scores of buildings, many of them used by the guerrilla group.
The Hezbollah terrorists are placing themselves among the civilian population. Which means when they get bombed, so do civilians.
This news is of course nothing new to people that are actually following events in the Middle East. But may come as a shock to those condemning the Israelis. And let’s not forget that in many instances these “civilians” are not civilians at all but are infact complacent and working with the terrorists. Even women and children are helping in the attacks like when I talked about how apparently people in Haditha, Iraq knew the bomb that killed one of our soldiers was there and prepared to go off (Story: Now The Media Seeks Out Marines’ Story About Haditha?).
But it’s just easier to ignore this for those that don’t want to open their eyes.
