Lou Dobbs - Blithering Idiot of the Week

Would you ever trust Lou Dobbs to give you financial advice again after his incredibly insane article from this past Wednesday? In it he laments that

the United States provides about $2.5 billion in military and economic aid to Israel each year, U.S. aid to Lebanon amounts to no more than $40 million. This despite the fact that the per capita GDP of Israel is among the highest in the world at $24,600, nearly four times as high as Lebanon’s GDP per capita of $6,200.

Lebanon’s lack of wealth is matched by the Palestinians — three out of every four Palestinians live below the poverty line. Yet the vast majority of our giving in the region flows to Israel. This kind of geopolitical inconsistency and shortsightedness has contributed to the Arab-Israeli conflict that the Western world seems content to allow to perpetuate endlessly.

bemoans that we are actually fighting terrorists

An estimated 50,000 Iraqis and more than 2,500 American troops have been killed since the insurgency began in March of 2003, which by some estimates is more than the number of dead on both sides of the Arab-Israeli conflict over the past 58 years of wars and intifadas.

and concludes with whining about

In the Middle East, where is our sense of proportion? Where is our sense of perspective? Where is our sense of decency? And, finally, just how smart are we?

I’ll tell you how smart we are Lou. We’re smart enough to know that you support your friends and that you do not support our enemies. Hence the reason why we give more money to Israel than the Palestinian or Lebanon who allow terrorists to operate in their countries.

We’re smart enough to know that fighting in Iraq is better than fighting on our own soil and despite what you might have been told by your friends in the media Iraq was a haven for terrorists before George Bush came around. Just ask people like Senator Hillary Clinton who in October 2002 proclaimed “In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001.” Who was President “four years” before 2002? Wasn’t George W. Bush THAT is for sure!

You don’t answer your enemies in time of war with “proportion”. You use superior firepower and excessive force and drive a stake through their hearts. Where is our sense of decency? I don’t know Lou, but I think giving money to the Israelis who aren’t actively lobbing missiles into civilian cities and tying bombs to their children before sending them into a crowded market is pretty “decent”.

Of course the whole concept of “foreign aid” is dubiously constitutional at best. But one thing is for certain. Helping to defend those that are under attack by people with no regard for human life and wanting to make the world one big Islamic state while stripping people of their freedom of conscious to worship Almighty God in the manner they see fit is certainly a good thing.

This ranting by Lou Dobbs would be like if he suggested that you invest in Enron stock as it was crashing during exposure of its fraud. You know, just to be “fair” and to keep your portfolio “balanced”. After all, you cannot keep all your money in good investments right? And this guy gets how much money each year to be on television?
