CCAGW 2005 Congressional Ratings

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) has just released its 2005 Congressional
Ratings,
evaluating the first session of the 109th Congress! For 17 years, CCAGW has examined roll-call votes to distinguish between those members of Congress who are friends of the taxpayer and those who are foes.
For 2005, CCAGW rated 34 key votes in the House and 24 key votes in the Senate. The entire House posted an average rating of 45 percent, a six-point increase over 2004, while the Senate averaged 46 percent, also a six-point increase over the prior year.
Senator Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) and Representative Ed Royce (R-Calif.) earned Taxpayer Super Hero status with scores of 100 percent. The number of Taxpayer Heroes, those scoring between 80 and 99 percent, dropped from 57 in the House in 2004 to 51 in 2005. The number of Heroes in the Senate dropped to nine, as Sen. Kyl upgraded to Super Hero status, becoming the first Senate Super Hero in four years.
