But it is yet another paper tiger; a toothless resolution.

July 15 (Bloomberg) — The United Nations Security Council will vote 15 to 0 to adopt a resolution demanding that North Korea suspend its missile program and barring the communist nation from acquiring or selling missile technology, U.S. Ambassador John Bolton said.

Bolton said the U.S. and Japan gained the support of China and Russia by dropping provisions in earlier drafts of the measure that threatened North Korea with economic penalties or military force for failing to comply. China had threatened to veto any resolution that contained such threats.

The draft resolution “requires” all nations to prevent North Korea from obtaining or transferring missile technology, according to the text. It condemns North Korea’s missile tests and “strongly urges” the Pyongyang government to return to six- party talks with the U.S., Japan, China, Russia and South Korea. - Blomberg

In other words the United Nations is asking North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Il, to kindly not be insane.

Didn’t we try this for over a decade with another dictator? Oh yeah we did try this with that maniac Saddam Hussein!

The United Nations is a useless body politic, corrupted by giving dictators and tyrants a seat at the table they do not deserve and respect they have not earned.

What are we going to do when Kim Jong Il ignores this?

UPDATE I:
North Korea tells United Nations to Go F*@! Themselves

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - North Korea said Saturday it “totally rejects” a UN resolution imposing sanctions for its recent missile tests and insisted it will continue the launches to bolster its self-defence.

North Korea’s UN Ambassador Pak Gil Yon accused the UN Security Council of trying to isolate his country, known officially as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, or DPRK.

“The delegation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea resolutely condemns the attempt of some countries to misuse the Security Council for the despicable political aim to isolate and put pressure on the DPRK and totally rejects the resolution which was adopted at the current meeting of the Security Council,” he said.

The Korean People’s Army “will go on with missile launch exercises as part of its efforts to bolster deterrent for self-defence in the future, too,” he said. - Canada.com

Let the fun begin as we watch the United Nations try to show they really have some balls only to fail to do anything in the end.
