Michael Moore Has Gone Off The Deep End?

Considering Fahrenheit 9/11 was possibly the greatest “Big Lie” told since Hitler can you really believe anything this man says? But for what it’s worth:

Controversial film director Michael Moore now claims that Republicans who once strongly opposed his political point of view are warming up to him, even hugging him in public.

“If you were to hang out with me here it won’t be five or 10 minutes before you see a Republican hug me. That is almost as entertaining as some of the films,” Moore told Reuters.

The liberal activist and political lightning rod hasn’t changed his claim from his 2004 documentary “Fahrenheit 9/11″ in which he alleges President Bush misled Americans about the reasons to send U.S. troops to Iraq. But he says more people are now viewing the situation like he does.

“That’s the shift that I’m seeing in the past year or so in the country, and as it relates to me,” he said.

“I want to know which Republicans are now in bed with Michael Moore,” Terise Sherber of Hallandale Beach, Fla., tells WND. “I don’t believe a word this subhuman says.” - WorldNetDaily

So maybe Michael Moore did find some liberal Republicans to hug him. Big deal. It still does not make his work any more truthful just because he found a couple new useful idiots.

Was Harriet Miers The Result of PC In The White House?

Andy Card, Bush’s former Chief of Staff claims to NewsMax that President Bush was fixated on nominating a woman to the Supreme Court instead of simply nominating the best person. You know, the “conservative” thing to do.

President Bush selected Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court after a search for other possible female candidates outside the White House began to lag, former White House Chief of Staff Andrew H. “Andy” Card, Jr. said in his first extensive interview since leaving the White House.

“The president was criticized for not nominating a woman when he nominated John Roberts,” Card said, as he petted Sophie, his Wheaton Terrier, in the living room of his home in northern Virginia.

“And then when William Rehnquist left, you know, ?What do you mean you’re not going to nominate a woman? You’ve had two opportunities, and you haven’t nominated a woman.’ And so he was looking to nominate a woman ? not blindly, not any woman, not just to nominate a woman.”

As the search committee kept suggesting female candidates who did not seem right, Bush pushed for more selections.

Outside the Box Nomination

“Go back and find more, go back and find more women,” Card quoted the president as saying. “We worked very, very hard, and a lot of the names that kept floating up were all white males. ?No, keep going, going, going.’

Easiest Money I Never Made

On Friday when the news broke about some coward shooting five people at a Seattle Jewish center (which no mention of the perp was made mind you) I turned to my wife and said I’ll bet you he was a Muslim Islamist. She didn’t take the bet. So I tried to get anyone I could to take the bet and I was unsuccessful. It was the easiest money I never got a chance to make because people are finally starting to wake up to reality.

‘No services tonight. Watch the news,” read a hand-written sign posted at one of Seattle’s Conservative synagogues on Friday afternoon, a few hours after a Muslim American forced his way into the Jewish Federation building where I worked for four years in the early 1990s.

Now, certainly there was an off chance that he would have been a left wing, Jew hating, neo NAZI but I felt confident enough and was right after all.

Well Now That Terrorists Are Geneva Convention Signatories …

At least they are signatories according to our own Supreme Court! So this article caught my eye today from the Washington Times:

Israel is being vilified by opportunistic politicians and the international media over the air strike that killed 56 persons early yesterday in the Lebanese village of Qana. In the rush to blame Israel, a number of relevant facts are ignored: 1) the sad fact of the matter is that, no matter how much is done to minimize the risk to civilians, civilians inevitably die in wars; 2) Israel has placed its soldiers at risk in order to minimize civilian casualties in Lebanon, while Hezbollah, in flagrant violation of international law, including the Geneva Conventions, deliberately behaves in ways to maximize harm to Israeli and Lebanese civilians; 3) in Qana there were indisputable military targets, including locations from which Hezbollah has been firing rockets into Israel; 4) pending the outcome of an investigation, there is no way to tell whether all of those killed in the airstrike were “civilians,” as Israel’s critics confidently tell us, or whether the dead were actually a mix of combatants and noncombatants.

Senior Israeli officials said yesterday that Hezbollah rocket launchers were concealed in civilian buildings in the village, from which 150 rockets were fired over the past 20 days. They showed reporters video footage of rocket launchers being driven into Qana, from whence rockets were fired at northern Israeli towns, including Kiryat Shemona, Afula and Ma’alot. Israel targeted the building hit early yesterday because intelligence reports indicated that Hezbollah operatives were inside, along with Katyusha rockets and launchers. Typically Hezbollah fighters fire rockets at Israeli targets and then dart into nearby buildings.

Which means that terrorists having just been given rights under the Geneva Conventions have just VIOLATED Article 28 of the Fourth Convention which plainly states “The presence of a protected person may not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations” which is what Hezbollah is trying to do by using “human shields”.

And yet I am still hard pressed to find more than a handful of leftists who are willing to condemn Hezbollah and call for their leaders to be brought up on war crimes charges. But dear Lord there are plenty of them condemning Israel who is not even violating the conventions because of this same article.

Texas Election judge speaks out

Many of my readers know that I am an election judge in the state of Texas, a position I had taken pride in since 2000. However, as of now I will refuse that position for the following reasons. The election before last the one about Gay marriage we were told that we must have a Spanish speaking interpreter. This was not something our state, our party or our local tax office was going to provide us but something we must find for our selves. I managed to find one for that election and did not think much of it until the last election when our Tax assessor told us that we MUST have one at the polling place and that if we did not and the state election board showed up at our polling place it did not matter if everything thing else was perfect if we did not have an interpreter they would shut down our polling place and that he could possibly lose his job.

My main problem with this new ruling is that it puts undo burden on election judges who only get paid the day of the election and not very much as it is. Second we are being told to put our name on an election that we can no longer say was handled professionally. The reason that I am saying that is that the majority of the election judges from both parties do not speak Spanish and since we can not speak nor understand the language we have no idea what our Spanish clerk is saying to the voter and cannot say in all honesty that the election was handled appropriately. Also another problem is that this is nothing more than state sanctioned discrimination. I say this simply because any time you favor one group of people over another it is discrimination pure and simple. We are not being asked or required to find interpreters for any other language and we all know that there are other nationalities who would like to have their languages spoken and written on the ballot.

The biggest problem with this ruling and their subsequent threats is that it will effectively disenfranchise a major portion of our voting population to accommodate one single nationality. They have reportedly told the man who trains us for the elections that if we do not have a Spanish interpreter, they will shut down our election. When that happens either those people will be forced to travel across town to vote or they simply will not be able to vote. Let?s remember it does not matter if every other part of the election is perfect, it does not matter at all, and all that matters is that we have some one there to speak the Spanish language. Tell me if you can that there is not something wrong with this picture. This is not something that I am willing to put my name to, simply because I cannot say that I ran a proper election if I can not understand the instruction being given to the Hispanic voters.

What happens for instance if you thought you had an interpreter and they don?t show up, what happens if they had to go home early because of an emergency? This is a ridiculous ruling that can only cause more harm than good, take for instance if they decide as a group that they are simply going to stay home hence May1st. Voting places around the state would simply be shut down. I do not know what other states are doing about this but the state of Texas is just wrong on this ruling and it seriously needs to be addressed, until it is I will not be an election judge.

John Murtha Bumper Stickers (Take 2)

Because of the great response (especially from military families) to our:

John Murtha For Traitor ‘06 Bumper Stickers

the expanded collection is now up! Thanks to everyone who made suggestions and even though I had a TON of requests from military families for one that read “John Murtha for Fragging in ‘06″ I did decided that that one was just a little too tasteless and might be construed as calling for the assassination of a Congressman. I know you wanted it but I’m not making it. Sorry. Besides I don’t want any of our fine military personnel to run afoul of the UCMJ by slapping it on the bad of their cars.

Here is the rest of the collection now available:

Forget Islamic Agression Towards Israel - UN Takes On US

It is no wonder people think the United Nations is an incompetent body. Years of evidence continue to pile up. Apparently, to cover up its own inability to enforce it’s own resolution which was to remove Hezbollah from southern Lebanon they have decided to complain, once again, about the United States.

GENEVA ? The United States should adopt a moratorium on death sentences, a U.N. rights body said Friday, noting that capital punishment appears to be disproportionately imposed on minority groups and poor people.

The U.S. “should place a moratorium on capital sentences, bearing in mind the desirability of abolishing death penalty,” the U.N. Human Rights Committee said in a 12-page release of findings on U.S. compliance with a 40-year-old treaty guaranteeing everyone civil and political rights. - Fox News

This may well be true but it ignores the fact that the United States does not execute people because they are “poor” or are “minorities”. If criminals that commit capital offenses which carry the death penalty (you know, like murder) happen to be in those categories is does not excuse those crimes.

In a statement, our mission in Geneva

“criticized much of the report, saying it made only tenuous connections between the 1966 International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and proposed recommendations ? particularly those relating to issues outside U.S. borders, which Washington says are not covered by the treaty.”

Which of course is true. But then again, when you are an organization such as the UN which has been wrought with scandals including where UN peacekeepers are raping civilians and failing to enforce resolutions I guess you have to try hard to make people look elsewhere for problems.

The panel, a group of 18 independent experts who review the practices of the 156 countries who have ratified the covenant, said it regretted that the U.S. had not indicated if it has taken steps to review federal and state legislation “with a view to assessing whether offenses carrying the death penalty are restricted to the most serious crimes.”

Want a bunch of bureaucratic gobbledygook! I think our court system is pretty well open enough that you can tell for which crimes people are getting the death penalty. I for one cannot think of once where such punishment was meted out for something less than “the most serious crimes”.

Anyone ever get the death penalty for jaywalking or telling an off color joke about our President like they do in third world dictatorships?

In the end all that we see is that, once again, the United Nations really does not care about the real problems of the world. Rather they simply are content to bash the one nation that provides land for their headquarters, most of their money and most of their military power. That’s gratitude for you. And I just have one thing to say:

Piss on the United Nations!

Recovering From Thunderstorm

Last night we had a massive thunderstorm come running through and as I was trying to get everything shut down we took a hit. This day has been spent getting the computers back up and running although I will tell you that we did lose a lot of emails and considering that we are about a week behind in reading them that means that if you sent us something in the last week it is most likely gone.

I know that there were a lot of article submissions for the Land of the Free that got lost so if you could, please resubmit them.

The good news is only peripheral stuff like that is dead. The sites are alive and well thanks to constant backups although the software I use like Paint Shop to design t-shirts and such all needed to be reinstalled from scratch.

But we’re cooking along again although posting may be a little slow over the next couple days as I spend more time getting systems fully operational.

God tests my patience like this every now and again and I thank him for it.

Laus Deo.

======================
UPDATE 1:
With a lot of patience I have recovered a lot of the emails that were thought lost. Still, if you contacted me you might want to drop me a line just ot make sure. All of the articles for Land of the Free have been recovered and will be published.

Walmart Ends German Occupation

Wal-Mart was forced out of Germany in part because the European business climate is so much different from the work ethic here in the States. I’ve dealt with European suppliers and companies in the past and nothing was more frustrating than never being able to get a hold of who you needed because they always seemed to be on holiday and refused to ever (despite many requests) kindly inform us before leaving. As a result this left projects and orders due to the customers that week they we gone hanging until they returned with an attitude of ?We?ll get it done later.? Of course when the customer refused to place another other and instead used the competition because of this it was never their fault.

The Germans are nice enough people for the most part. I cannot say that I have ever met one that was not personally a nice person. But business wise I despise dealing with them.

A couple sources report why Wal-Mart has beat a hasty retreat after years of failing to turn a profit.

“Germany has been a retailer’s nightmare due to restrictive regulations. Wal-Mart and other major retailers have entered Germany and failed,” Oppenheimer analyst Bernard Sosnick wrote in a note to clients. - Marketwatch.com

Jim Gilchrist Sets Record Straight On Reuters Report

Michelle Nichols of Reuters gave us a prime example of how to stack a story on Wednesday when she reported

Immigration activists clashed at the site of the World Trade Center on Wednesday when an anti-illegal immigration group called for secure borders to avoid a repeat of the September 11 attacks and counterprotesters yelled “racists go home.”

Members of the Minuteman Project, which patrols the U.S.-Mexican border for illegal immigrants, pushed and shoved members of an immigrant rights group that showed up at the event.

Jim Gilchrist and Jerome Corsi, authors of “Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America’s Borders,” were whisked away when some immigrant rights supporters broke through a police barrier and scuffled with Minutemen supporters.

The story is built upside down spending the first two paragraphs setting up the Minutemen as aggressors when the third paragraph says otherwise.

She also mischaracterize the groups protesting the Minutemen as “immigrant rights groups”. This is not true. They are “illegal immigrants rights” groups if they are protesting against the Minutemen who are not trying to stop immigrants from entering the country but rather “illegal immigrants” crossing our borders “illegally”.

Jim Gilchrist spoke out to set the record straight however.

Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist and his co-author Jerome Corsi dispute a Reuters report of their book-tour kickoff at Ground Zero in New York City that implied the citizen border-watch group provoked a physical confrontation with protesters.

The second paragraph of a Reuters story by Michelle Nichols said Minuteman members “pushed and shoved members of an immigrant rights group that showed up at the event.”

In fact, Gilchrist told WND, it was the radical activist group that launched an assault while he was answering questions from the media. The group of about 125 broke through a police barrier across the street and pushed and shoved members of Gilchrist’s entourage, including his wife, before police intervened.

A handful of New York City police officers, trying to protect Gilchrist and his colleagues, quickly whisked them away in cabs.

Gilchrist and Corsi are authors of “Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America’s Border”, described as a first-hand account of how the nation’s southern border has disintegrated into a “Wild West of human trafficking, drug smuggling and violent gangs.”

Corsi called the Reuters report a “distortion,” insisting that if there was any pushing and shoving by Minuteman members, it was done in an attempt to avoid getting knocked down by the protesters flooding in from across the street. - WorldNetDaily

Michelle also fell down in her article failing to tell the truth and set the record straight after including comments by two of the illegal immigrants rights protestors saying

Stephen Durham, 58, was one of 50 activists who protested the Minutemen’s appearance in New York.

“I’m really appalled that (the Minuteman Project) would use 9/11 to publicize a plan (to secure U.S. borders) which is fundamentally so unconstitutional and un-American,” he said. “We are all immigrants. Immigrant labor built America.”

Had Michelle done her job and reported the facts she would have followed this comment up by citing the Constitution itself which Stephen Durham has apparently never read.

The relevant sections she should have quoted to show Stephen as the useful idiot he is would have been Article I, Section 8 “The Congress shall have Power To … establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization” and Article I, Section 9 “The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person.”

As we all can CLEARLY see, immigration laws are COMPLETELY Constitutional and Congress clearly has the right to prohibit the migration or importation of persons since last time I looked it was past the year 1888.

But I’ll bet Stephen supports all sorts of unconstitutional laws like Social Security, Medicare, Welfare, etc which are clearly NOT enumerated as powers of Congress. Just a hunch, but I’ll bet I’m right.
