President Bush - Domestically Irrelevant?

There are glimmers of hope sometimes. But aside from the war on terror (a huge success) what is President Bush going to be remembered for?

Ok, President Bush grabbed terrorists by the balls and has been squeezing them harder and harder each passing day and making the homeland safer. I give him that. It’s a BIG accomplishment. And every now and again we get some nugget of hope on the domestic front be it a conservative nominee to the Supreme Court or a recognition that our money is our money and we should be allowed to keep it (i.e. tax cuts).

But…
What about doing something to curtain illegal immigration?
What about doing something to punish those that hire illegals?
What about doing something to punish the illegals?
What about actually setting up the debate to actually reform the tax code?
What about whipping out the veto pen and stopping McCain/Feingold?
What about whipping out the veto pen for ANY unconstitutional law?
What about taking the Dubai Ports World Deal a little more seriously?
What about grabbing some of those Republicans in the Congress by the nuts and helping to get spending under control?

Now remember, President Bush is just the Executive. His ability to actually DO anything about the above (except the veto request) comes from getting so-called Republicans in Congress to act as he leads. President Bush can’t pass laws. Even I know that.

But the problem here is that you can see, President Bush is becoming a one dimensional President - and a two dimensional one at best. America is, as a consequence, floundering domestically.

We’ve gotten leadership abroad. How about in these law couple years showing some leadership at home as well?

On topic and intelligent comments are always welcome as are humorous observations. But liberal talking points with no basis in reality, off topic comments, spam and advertisements are not. Even though you may think you are an intelligent liberal, you probably are not. Keep this in mind as trolling is prohibited and will result in your comments not being approved and comments informing us how much we are a bunch of idiots because you say we are or espousing hate towards the truth are often moved directly to the official “I Hate You/You’re An Idiot” thread. Save us all the time and post there directly if you have a comment that would meet those criteria. Commenters reserve the right to mock claims about how liberal ideas, such as higher taxes, actually work and how conservative and right wingers, are NAZIs, racists, sexists, etc. and will do so with great regularity.
