This is a follow up email to Senator Santorum proding him to talk with our Senior Senator from Pennsylvania about his idea for a “Windfall Profits” tax:

Senator Santorum,

I ask that you please talk to the Senior Senator from our State of Pennsylvania about his latest endorsement of a “Windfall Profits” tax on oil companies.

Every year political pandering over rising gasoline prices and constant blame being laid at the feet of the oil companies solves none of the problems that face our country when it comes to our dependence on foreign oil.

Especially not with as savvy as the constituents of the Republican Party are at realizing that compared to the oil companies State and Federal governments reap even larger profits in terms of straight taxes on fuels and the imbedded taxes that are incumbent upon each gallon sold.

I would ask that you discuss this matter with Mr. Specter and make sure that he understands the ramifications of such dangerous and disingenuous rhetoric on his part.

Laus Deo,
