Arlen Specter - Communist In Republican Clothing
J.J. Jackson* | April 24, 2006
Let’s be honest Mr. Specter, you’re no Republican. Ok now that we have that out of the way we can have a serious discussion of your latest idiocy which is a “windfall profits” tax on oil companies. From All Headline News:
Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Leading Republican Senator Arlen Specter says the government should consider a tax on oil companies if they make excessive profits amid rising gasoline prices.Specter, who is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, says a windfall profits tax, along with measures to stem concentration of market power among a few select oil companies, could offer eventual relief to consumers hurting at the gas pump.
Dear God in Heaven I am damn glad I didn’t vote for you in the last election because, quite frankly, you aren’t fit to even be a shoeshine boy for a United States Senator much less an actual United States Senator.
The average profit of “big oil” on a gallon of gasoline is anywhere between $0.07 and $0.10 per gallon. You want to talk about “windfall profits”? Let’s talk about who is REALLY making money on that gallon of gasoline - YOU!
Each gallon of gasoline sold includes an $0.18 FEDERAL tax. That’s right, roughly DOUBLE what the oil companies make. So if the oil companies are gouging us what exactly is it you are doing? The term anal rape comes to mind.
If $0.07 per gallon is too much for the oil companies then how on Earth is $0.18 not twice as bad?
Oh, and while we’re on the subject, here in Pennsylvania State and Local Taxes are $0.12 PER GALLON. Oh, and that does include a $0.011 per gallon fee and a $0.19 per gallon tax on oil companies just for the privilege of being oil companies! In case you’re not bright enough to do the math that is $0.32 PER GALLON in taxes!
So let’s make sure we are clear on this. Out of the Federal Government, the State Government and the oil companies, the oil companies rank THIRD in terms of how much they make PER GALLON!
Sure they make a lot of money, but only because they sell a lot (and I do mean A LOT) of oil each year. What’s your excuse? What do you sell? What do you contribute to the economy?
You want to go after people making money off gasoline? Look at yourself first.
There is a name for the type of solution you are proposing whereby government essentially takes control of companies and the means of production. Want to guess what it?s called?
