Thomas Merton Center And ACLU Cries Fowl

An FBI memo dated November 2002 said the Merton Center “holds daily leaflet distribution activities in downtown Pittsburgh and is currently focused on its opposition to the potential war in Iraq.” The war began in March 2003.

The memo called the Merton Center “a left-wing organization advocating, among many political causes, pacifism.”

The FBI acknowledged the report sounded as if it were reporting on the activities of an anti-war group, but said “such a characterization would be factually misleading.”

The agent was pursuing leads “from another source possibly establishing a link between an ongoing investigation and the group engaging in anti-war protests. Finding no such link, he terminated his surveillance,” the FBI said in a statement. - Yahoo

For those of your outside of Pittsburgh the Thomas Merton Center is like our own little local gaggle of Cindy Sheehans. They love to trash the troops and the war on terror under the guise of “support”. They don’t particularly care for the military. In fact on March 17th they plan to disrupt the local recruiting office in Oakland. You know, because they know better than those saps that might want to join the military. Sarcasm intended!

So, the FBI gets a lead and the FBI follows up on that lead. That lead involved the moonbats at the Thomas Merton Center. They find nothing so they terminate the investigation.

However according to the article one of our little moonbats “knows” better:

“We know that this surveillance is about the political views of the Thomas Merton Center because that’s what the documents say,” said Mary Catherine Roper, an attorney with the Pittsburgh ACLU.

Oh no there couldn’t possibly be any other concern could there be. I mean the fact that both the Thomas Merton Center and Islamic Terrorists are both against the war on terror couldn’t POSSIBLY have anything to do with it right?

You know what, sure, it probably WAS about your “political” views because they also happen to be the same as many of the enemies of America. But hey, that isn’t the FBI’s fault now is it?

Listen, IF they found nothing and then arrested your members THEN there would be a problem!
