The Liberals On The Court Falling In Line?
J.J. Jackson* | March 7, 2006
Any time a case goes before the Supreme Court these days you have to wonder what the outcome will be. Will Breyer, Stevens or Ginsberg go running to foreign law in order to prove a point?
So it is a surprise when we have some unanimous decisions coming down the pike on issues that the left goes nuts over. In an 8-0 decision the SCOTUS has said that it is ok for colleges and universities to tell military recruiters that they are not welcome. However the decision reaffirmed that the Federal Government is likewise allowed to say “No Federal Funds FOR YOU!”
Ouch…
The left didn’t like that! They want to be able to tell the government they are not welcome and STILL have the federal government subsidize them.
The argument was weak. The colleges and universities said that forcing them to accept recruiters in order to get federal funds violated their right to free association and free expression. Ok … so the argument was that they don’t want to associate with the federal government (i.e. barring military recruiters) but still associate with the federal government (i.e. receive funding from them).
Yep, if your brain hurt after reading that it is pretty typical of most liberal positions. They are both for and against most things. Kind of like John Kerry and the $87 Billion. They are for it when they can get something to line their pockets and they are against it when they have to reciprocate in kind. Consideration is a one way street for the left.
It seems odd however that the entire court except for Alito who was not on the court when the case was heard (and hence abstained) agreed when they cannot even agree to the fact that a baby in the mother’s womb is indeed a child with a right to life. Hmmm. Maybe it is true after all about liberals being lemmings. I joke about it a lot but more often it does seem all too true. Where the majority goes - so do most liberals.
