More Eminent Domain Abuse

Somehow the original story on March 3rd got by me. But this today from WorldNetDaily:

The city of Long Beach, Calif., is using the power of eminent domain bolstered by last summer’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling to condemn a Baptist congregation’s church building.

Isn’t there something in the Constitution about Government not being allowed to interfere with religion?

The city wants to remove the Filipino Baptist Fellowship’s building to make way for condominiums, the Baptist Press reported.

Obviously the City of Long Beach is Racist since this is a Filipino Church.

The city will hold a hearing March 13 and vote on a resolution authorizing the city attorney to begin condemnation proceedings.

At which time the citizens should draw and quarter all members of the council that vote in favor. Pitchforks and torches should be at the ready. And a couple guns wouldn’t hurt either.

We’re not talking about a rundown slum that’s boarded up with bars on the windows,” said Eastman, director of the Claremont Institute’s Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence. “The church is a vibrant church. So we’ll challenge whether they’re allowed to take it at all.”

Doesn’t matter. Don’t you know the government is your Lord and Master?

“In my view, the Supreme Court made a terrible mistake in Kelo, and I think they know that and they’re going to be looking for a way to extricate [themselves] from that case,” he said.

First part I agree with, but since when do stinking liberals ever want to extricate themselves from socialism? The best you can hope for is that one of the idiots that helped established Kelo has a flash of divine inspiration or is impeached or be otherwise not on the court any more. If an idiot such as myself could see this kind of abuse being rampant while the Supreme Court couldn’t it doesn’t bode too well for the intelligence of some members
