WARNING: The following is based on polling data which although I often do not trust, Democrats and Liberals LOVE! And since they are the ones out there telling us how crappy America is doing, I thought it might be instructive.
March 30, 2006–Fifty-five percent (55%) of Americans say they are better off today than they were four years ago. A Rasmussen Reports national opinion poll of 5,000 adults found that 36% disagree and say they are not better off - Rasmussen

Another Nail In The Coffin For Liberals
Gee, wonder how the liberals will continue to keep up the “Bush Spied” mantra with this:
A panel of former Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judges yesterday told members of the Senate Judiciary Committee that President Bush did not act illegally when he created by executive order a wiretapping program conducted by the National Security Agency (NSA).
The five judges testifying before the committee said they could not speak specifically to the NSA listening program without being briefed on it, but that a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act does not override the president’s constitutional authority to spy on suspected international agents under executive order.
“If a court refuses a FISA application and there is not sufficient time for the president to go to the court of review, the president can under executive order act unilaterally, which he is doing now,” said Judge Allan Kornblum, magistrate judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida and an author of the 1978 FISA Act. “I think that the president would be remiss exercising his constitutional authority by giving all of that power over to a statute.” - Washington Times

Gee, How Many Calls Did You Think Frist Got?
Mr. Frist — who is widely expected to run for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination — later distanced himself from the bill finished this week by the Senate Judiciary Committee. That proposal would fine illegals but let them remain in the U.S. while they apply for full citizenship.
That bill “goes too far in granting illegal immigrants with what most Americans will see as amnesty,” he said on the Senate floor. “I disagree with this approach not just as a matter of principle but because granting amnesty now will only encourage future and further disrespect for the law. It will undermine our efforts to secure our homeland.” - Washington Times
The question is will he and other Republicans have enough balls, courage and clout to stop the insanity liberals, RINOS, illegal aliens and their abettors want from us.

First Amendment? What First Amendment?
Never underestimate the power of judges to simply ignore the Constitution when it suits them.
RIVERSIDE ? A judge allowed a lawsuit filed by the guardians of two suspected lesbians to proceed against a Christian school that expelled them, but the resolution of the case is likely months away.No new hearings are scheduled in Mother Doe v. California Lutheran High School Association, except for a July 9 status conference. - Sign On San Diego
Question: What possible standing could the guardians have to even bring this case? In case you don’t know if one does not have standing there can be no case. What is their argument? “Your honor we demand that you tell a religious institution to accept our daughters even though it is against what they believe”? Uh - but doesn’t that violate the actual RIGHT of the church to be free from interference by the government? And since Congress (or the States for that matter according to Amendment XIV) cannot pass a law that prohibits the “free exercise” of religion what standing can they possibly have?
There can be no law that makes the act illegal and hence no case. I repeat, there can be NO law that makes such an act illegal because the Constitution says there can be no such law. Hence the argument that the state’s civil right laws take precedence is a fallacious argument.
Never confuse a liberal with the facts however. No wonder our courts are over burdened considering that judges can’t even make simple decisions based on simple facts.

Not Your Job
Congress will pass any unconstitutional law they think can buy them some votes. After all, few Americans have actually ever read the Constitution and Article I, Section 8 which restricts the power of the federal government to make laws to only a few limited cases.

Why is it that whenever these laws are proposed we skip right past the “constitutional” issue and start arguing based on emotions as a society?

I would like everyone to make sure they vote only for people that actually know what the Constitution says in the future before putting people that are apparently unqualified into such positions of power. Sen. Prior should resign citing his own ignorance of the document he is supposed to defend and support.
Yeah … and pigs will fly out of Sen. John Kerry’s ass too! But in all honesty if we don’t start electing people with an actual clue, our society is going to keep sliding ever more quickly towards full fledged left wing, socialist, fascist state.

Be polite but make sure they know that you have serious issues and will not rubber stamp their election just because you are scared of Democrat control of the Senate. My letter to Senator Rick Santorum (PA)
Honorable Senator Santorum,As you are no doubt aware, the Senate Judiciary Committee has voted to advance out of committee legislation which would include an amnesty program for illegal aliens currently residing in the United States.
Make no mistake Senator that such a bill, should it become law, would send the wrong message to those without any respect for our sovereignty or laws. I have heard many try to defend this bill as not “amnesty” as a way to deflect criticism. However, as I am sure you are well aware, it most certainly is such.
An act of forgiveness, which pardons transgressions against the law, can be considered nothing else.
As I am also sure you are aware, you are up for re-election this November. Should you consider voting for such a bill (either this or another one similar) that grants amnesty to lawbreakers it would certainly not bolster myself or other libertarian conservatives to vote in favor of your re-election. Such a flagrant disregard for securing this nation and upholding our laws would not be best for your campaign.
America is at a dangerous political crossroads. There is no certain reason that I can see as to why you would wish to anger the base of your support in Pennsylvania at this time by supporting such a measure and grant the opposition any unneeded political advantage this election. As I am certain you are aware, the opposition has made no small light of their desire to do serious damage to this Republic should they be allowed to regain power in either or both the House and Senate.
I trust that you will act in the manner most suited to your position and with your oath of office and vote against any measure that rewards or ignores criminal activity. And I trust that this nation and I can count on you to be a leader among the Senate on this and other issues of importance to this nation.

This is exactly why political conservatives are going to desert the Republican Party

Yes, Mr. President, America DOES need comprehensive immigration reform. And it should be called “You broke the law to get here? You ain’t saying!”
What’s next? A bill that would allow murderers to avoid prison time if only they volunteer for the local animal shelter?
It’s sad when you have politicians refusing to admit that these people are criminals and that there are thousands of law abiding potential citizens waiting in line for U.S. Citizenship who are in essence being told that their observance of the law doesn’t matter.
