We’re Back to “Bush Stole The Election” Again!
J.J. Jackson* | February 16, 2006
It’s always funny how the left comes back to the same tired talking points over and over. Take US COUNT VOTES which today issued a press release.
“In June 2005 The Election Science Institute (ESI) and pollster Mitofsky issued a paper ?Ohio 2004 Exit Polls: Explaining the Discrepancy? which asserts that an exit poll error explanation ?is much more likely than the fraud accusation theory to account for most, if not all, of the observed discrepancy between the exit polls and the actual results.? Precinct-level exit poll data released with ESI?s report shows that the overall average discrepancy between Ohio?s exit poll and certified vote count margins between Kerry and Bush was 11.7 percentage points. However, In October, 2005, the National Election Archive released a paper which gives counterexamples to show that the Election Science Institute?s analysis was based on an invalid premise. On January 17, 2006 the National Election Archive released its own scientific Ohio exit poll discrepancy analysis, ?The Gun Is Smoking: 2004 Ohio Precinct-level Exit Poll Data Show Virtually Irrefutable Evidence of Vote Miscount?. This analysis concluded that Ohio?s huge exit poll discrepancy pattern is consistent with outcome-altering errors in vote counts.”
Yep. That?s right, George Bush stole the election.
I guess they didn’t get the memo about the BIG story being Dick Cheney’s hunting accident.
So who is US VOTE COUNTS? Their web site www.electionarchive.org, is quite reveling. Under “links” and “The Controversy” they have a grand total of 5 (that’s it - FIVE) “articles” talking about “voter fraud”. Not one of them comes from a major media outlet (no doubt because the Right Wing controls the media). Of the 5 articles 4 of them “Default Settings on DRE Voting Machines”, “Criminal Activity in ballot and voting machine handling”, “Observors barred, voting machines misallocated”, and “Ten reasons the OH vote didn’t add up” come from “The Free Press” (www.freepress.org) which describes itself openly as “Progressive news and commentary from the web and print journal”. In other words - Jonh Kerry supporters/left wingers.
They are apparently also starved for attention because their links have only registered a couple hundred hits each, a couple of which are mine following them to read their “articles”. The last page “Amazing Facts re. US Voting and Elections” contains a list of links trying to show that there was vote fraud in Ohio. These articles are from such liberal sources as commondreams.org, motherjones.com, Portland Independent Media Center, and so on with a few legitimate news organizations (if you can call cbs, msnbc, et al “legitimate”) to try and show some bizare connection between George W. Bush and voter fraud. However not one of the articles actually has any proof of wrong doing. Not surprising.
And their links to voter “activist” groups contains a dead link, a redirect to a site promoting vacations (SERIOUSLY!), the “Open Voting Consortium which states “If the election wasn’t stolen for George W. Bush in Ohio, it could have been” and is trying to raise $1.5 million (and which you can see by their “progress bar” haven’t convinced many to donate yet, VotersUnite.org which points you to a message board containing a grand total of 51 active users, and lastly verifiedvotingfoundation.org which may be the only semi-legitimate link on their whole site.
Listen, everyone knows I am against paperless “electronic” voting systems which these guys are complaining about. I think that any “electronic” system should be backed up with two paper ballots. One goes through a scanner to verify the electronic vote and the other is for the voter to keep in case we need to prove fraud later on. But this isn’t about being against “electronic” voting. So what is this all about? It’s about continuing to complain that John Kerry lost. Odd however that with all the supposed “voter fraud” by “Republicans” that we had 8 years of Bill Clinton.
When US COUNT VOTES starts looking into Democratic Voter Fraud in places like Philadelphia and Chicago maybe I’ll take them a bit more seriously. Until then, here’s to you liberal moonbats!
