Someone Needs To Get Liberals A Dictionary

Religion:
Main Entry: re?li?gion
Pronunciation: ri-’li-j&n
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English religioun, from Latin religion-, religio supernatural constraint, sanction, religious practice, perhaps from religare to restrain, tie back — more at RELY
1 a : the state of a religious b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
2 : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
3 archaic : scrupulous conformity : CONSCIENTIOUSNESS
4 : a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith

The Boy Scouts are arguing before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals because liberals rewrite the English language to suit their agenda. That agenda with the Boy scouts is to get rid of public support for a group that teaches our young boys to be responsible men. The reason the Boy Scouts are in the position is because 3 “self-declared agnostics” (source WND) and their sons took issue with the Boy Scouts recognizing God.

A federal judge in San Diego granted the summary judgment to the agnostics, finding that the Boy Scouts are a “religion” because of the Boy Scout Oath, which includes doing one’s duty to “God and my country,” and the Boy Scout Law, which includes “reverence” as one of 12 precepts. Also, the Scouts require a belief in God as a condition of membership.

Two problems however.

First is that “religion” is (as defined above) a specific set of beliefs and practices. Which religion exactly is the Boy Scouts? Catholic? Muslim? Jewish? Protestant? The answer is none of them. What the scouts are is a “religious” group but not a “religion”. There is a difference.

Religious
Main Entry: 1re?li?gious
Pronunciation: ri-’li-j&s
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Old French religieus, from Latin religiosus, from religio
1 : relating to or manifesting faithful devotion to an acknowledged ultimate reality or deity
2 : of, relating to, or devoted to religious beliefs or observances
3 a : scrupulously and conscientiously faithful

Notice the stark difference?

The Boy Scouts require a belief in God but have no “system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices” themselves. They accept all faiths as long as you believe in God.

But of course the 9th Circus doesn’t understand that as many liberals don’t.

And there is a deeper problem here to. These people claim to be “agnostic” not “atheist”.

Agnostic
Main Entry: 1ag?nos?tic
Pronunciation: ag-’n?s-tik, &g-
Function: noun
Etymology: Greek agnOstos unknown, unknowable, from a- + gnOstos known, from gignOskein to know — more at KNOW
: a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and prob. unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god

Agnostics simply say we cannot know of God - not that He doesn’t exist. They just don’t know if he does or not. Where as the atheist religion says there is no God.

So why would a group of agnostics be so offended that someone chooses to believe in God? The answer is simple. Because they aren’t agnostics - they’re atheists. Just like “liberals” try and call themselves libertarians to try and appeal to conservatives the atheist will call themselves agnostic to justify their stances in an attempt to lessen criticism.

This country is not atheist, nor is it agnostic. Our founders were clear that there is a God and that this country was based on that belief in God. Want me to go through the clear evidence again? The founding documents both state it.

If you don’t like it leave.
