Sen. Joe Lieberman - Admits He Wants Unconstitutional Government
J.J. Jackson* | February 12, 2006
Sen. Joe Lieberman often gets praise from soft hearted conservatives looking hard to try and find some reason to not see that the Democratic Party is infested by socialist and unconstitutional ideas on government. With regards to the latest report on the aftermath of hurricane Katrina he talked about how the federal government “should have been” better prepared to act.
Uh - Joe? Ever read the Constitution? You might want to review Article I to see what the federal government “should” do. Your hawkish stance in the war on terror might save you from criticism of Republicans who are not much to the “right” of your average liberal, but it doesn’t save you from true conservatives.
Listen Joe, I understand that you, like far too many Americans, think the federal government should do all sorts of things that it isn’t supposed to do. Be those things Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, or even - yes - “disaster relief” they are still unconstitutional and beyond your power to command.
The problem with the report that is now out on the aftermath of Katrina is that while it lays blame at the feet of nearly everyone, it doesn’t address the real problem. For this report to be taken seriously it has to be honest and call FEMA what it is and that is and unconstitutional over reach of federal power and lay the blame solely at Congress for creating this unconstitutional over reach.
But since it doesn’t do that it is nothing more than a collection of white washes and excuse making to cover bureaucratic asses.
