Liberals Keep Shooting Themselves In The Foot?
J.J. Jackson* | February 13, 2006
First it was President Bush did a horrible thing trying to intercept messages between al-Qaida and people in the United States. Then they refined their position to an admittance that it was necessary but that, despite Article 2 granting the President power to conduct a war, he had over stepped what Congress deemed as valid. They had to after all because even an idiot knows that the government has the obligation to listen to the enemy no matter where that enemy may be - even in the United States.
Over the weekend it came out that Michael Curtis Reynolds (47) was caught in a sting after he mistakenly believed he was going to meet an al-Qaida operative about a plan to blow up the Alaskan Pipeline.
*BANG*
That was the sound of liberals shooting themselves in the foot again.
Michael Curtis Reynolds, to be fair, claims that this is all a big misunderstanding and that he was really trying to infiltrate and expose al-Qaida here in America. To be fair, if this is true then Mr. Reynolds is dumber than a rock.
Let’s see, you want to infiltrate al-Qaida and you know that the federal government is tracking al-Qaida in the United States and actively looking for them so, without telling the government that you have had contact with the enemy you go out to meet them? I don’t know about you but I would certainly be first on the phone to the FBI if I had contact with terrorists!
Do I believe Mr. Reynold’s claim? No. It’s too convenient of an excuse and unless they can produce something like a journal detailing this elaborate deception I would be hard pressed to ever believe him.
But what I do believe, just like I have for many years, is that the enemy is among us and we need to find them. It’s a war damn it, not a civil or federal law enforcement operation.
