Senator Clinton Guilty But Not?

WASHINGTON — A campaign fundraising group for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has agreed to a $35,000 fine for underreporting hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on a Hollywood fundraiser in 2000. - Newsday.com

The decision was accompanied by a letter stating “Clinton did not violate the law”. Which is probably technically correct.

Politicians hire underlings to do this work and usually do not have complete control over every single aspect of what they do. But the question really becomes what did Hillary know and when did she know it? It’s a serious charge and as we all know from the political left what really counts is the seriousness of the charge afterall.

It will be interesting to see how the left treats Senator Clinton now. I’ll tell you how I think it will be portrayed. Senator Clinton knew nothing about it and it was all the fault of her underlings. End of story.

But if only they could apply those same standards to their political oppoents wouldn’t the world be a much more friendly place?

Instead we have:
A couple soldiers in Abu Gharib humiliate a couple prisoners and it is “Impeach Bush!”
A couple soldiers are falsely accused of desecrating the Koran at Guantanamo and it is “Impeach Bush!”
We haven’t found WMDs in Iraq which even the liberal Democrats said existed and it is “Impeach Bush!”
Someone didn’t even break the law by letting out the name of a non-covert Valerie Plame and it is “Impeach Bush!”
FEMA was not in New Orleans the day before Katrina FORCING everyone onto busses and it is “Impeach Bush!”
The NSA is intercepting foreign telephone calls between terrorists and it is “Impeach Bush!”
Barney craps in the White House bushes and it is “Impeach Bush!”
The White House Christmas Tree is half a degree off plumb and it is “Impeach Bush!”

Ok…so the last two I made up but you get my point.

For the left any misstep percieved or real by a subordinate is grounds for a new call of “Impeach Bush!” They are loud, shrill and in your face about it. But Hillary Clinton’s campaign is found to have committed a real crime and it is just another day at the office.
