Schumer on Alito
J.J. Jackson* | January 10, 2006
Never fear citizens, I am here to let you know what was said during opening statements at Judge Alito’s confirmation hearing yesterday and translate it to plain English!
While every Supreme Court nominee has a great burden, yours, Judge Alito, is triply high. First, because you have been named to replace Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the pivotal swing vote on a divided court; second, because you have been picked to placate the extreme right wing after the hasty withdrawal of Harriet Miers; and, finally, because your record of opinions and statements on a number of critical Constitutional questions seems quite extreme.
Oooooo can’t you just feel the “intellectualness” of Chucky Schumer (Socialist Democrat - NY)?
Swing vote on the Court? Hmmm let me check…nope no “swing vote” seat mentioned in the Constitution. Translation from Liberal Psychobabble - “If you are more conservative than O’Connor we may not be able to keep murdering babies!”
Hasty withdrawal of Harriet Mier because of the extreme “right wing”? Really? I was unaware that there were any anarchists involved in that decision! Translation from Liberal Psychobabble - “Oh crap, we can’t have our way and keep Abortion legal with you it seems!”
Extreme on critical Constitutional questions? Huh? Oh - you mean that right to murder babies even though the Constitution was formed to “secure … rights” among which was the right to “life”! Translation from Liberal Psychobabble - “OH CRAP! We might REALLY be in trouble on this whole ‘abortion’ thing!”
