Religious Idiots On Parade

I AM sorry, but I just have to comment on this idiocy. I was reading this article at WorldNetDaily this morning about one Mr. Ian Millar being offended by AOL’s new method of marketing some of it’s services such as Instant Messaging and Voice Chat.

The new marketing plan is to include logos that say “I AM Instant Messaging” and “I AM Voice Chat”. Mr. Millar’s complaint? The use of the phrase “I AM” takes the Lord’s name in vain.

The key scripture used to support the sacred name of God is Exodus 3:13-15: “And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.”

Oh BOY! Now THAT is a DOOSEY!

Mr. Millar, are you telling me that you, Mr. I speak for God, have never used the phrase “I AM”? You have never said “Honey, I AM going to the store” or “Sorry Bob, I AM going to watch the game on Sunday”? Maybe you’ve tried to use a legal loop hole and said “I’M” instead?

Give me a break. This is a prime example of how some people take their religion WAY to far in an attempt to find offense with something. It’s much like the how the left jumps through so many hoops and iterations and disconnects of logic to arrive at a conclusion just to give them something to complain about.

I demand that Mr. Millar’s entire life transcript be examined to see if he himself ever takes the Lord’s name in vain.

Oh, and just so Mr. Millar and other’s that actually believe the use of the phrase “I AM” is taking the Lord’s name in vain are on the same page as the rest of use “vain” means “in an irreverent or blasphemous manner”. Saying “I AM” something does neither.

Yet another victim has been created by his own hand. And this is the same kind of twisting of logic that while it starts out small, leads to terrible things - like the gassing of Jews.
