Narnia 3, Humpback 8
J.J. Jackson* | January 31, 2006
With the nominations for the Oscars released we again see that Hollywood thinks it knows a better movie than you do. Humpback Mountain received 8 nominations: Music, Writing (Adapted Screenplay), Actor in a Leading Role, Actor in a Supporting Role, Actress in a Supporting Role, Cinematography, Directing, and the all important Best Picture. Narnia a film that has dwarfed this movie received nominations for only the impressive categories of Sound Mixing, Visual Effects and Make up.
Ho hum.
How a picture that is barely even on the charts can be “Best Picture” much less even nominated is beyond me! So I just thought I would update you on the head to head battle between Narnia and Humpback Mountain which were both released on the same day. Stats courtesy of boxofficemojo.com:
Narnia:
Total Worldwide Gross: $634,152,732
Humpback Mountain:
Total Worldwide Gross: $62,344,000
Gee, which is “Best Picture” material? Well, outside of Hollywood it certainly isn’t a story about two gay cowboys.
Hello? Is anyone in Hollywood listening? Or are you still living in a fantasy land where you are so much smarter than the rest of us and know what is good for us that you are still going to go along with this charade?
