Some OTHER Highlights From NY Times/CBS Poll
J.J. Jackson | December 8, 2005
When the New York Times today reported on their latest poll they focused on numbers about Iraq. But there was much more that you may not know about.
Question: “Do you think George W. Bush has more honesty and integrity than most people in public life? IF NO, ASK: Do you think George W. Bush has less honesty and integrity than most people in public life or about the same honesty and integrity as most people in public life?
41% Yes 22% No 29% Same
Hmmm. So President Bush is seen as either as honest or MORE honest than other people in public life. Doesn’t bode well for the Democrats.
Question: “How much confidence do you have in George W. Bush’s ability to handle a crisis ? lot, some, a little, or none at all?”
31% A lot 26% Some 23% Little 19% None
Wow, a majority of Americans still have at least some faith in President Bush to handle a crisis.
Question: “Is your opinion of George W. Bush favorable, not favorable, undecided, or haven’t you heard enough about George W. Bush yet to have an opinion?”38% Not favorable 46% Favorable 11% Undecided
Wow, still more people have a favorable opinion of President Bush.
And HERE is the kicker!
Question: “Do you think George W. Bush’s nominees to the U.S. Supreme Court have been more conservative than you would like, not conservative enough, or about right?”25% More 15% Not Enough 50% About Right
Did you SEE that? 65% said that President Bush’s nominees were either “about right” or “not conservative enough”! And the loony libs are out there telling us that President Bush is not nominating judges “in the mainstream”!
Well now, what are they going to say?
I don’t like polls. They are easy enough to fudge, but if I were a Senator, the next time one of the left wing Defeatocrats stood up and claimed the nominee is “out of the mainstream” I’d whip out this poll and say “EXPLAIN THIS!”
