Jim Clymer (Constitution Party) Disappoints Me

The Constitution Party, as many know, I think is the only viable third party right now in America. The Libertarian Party is infested, the Greens are too radical and the Socialist and Communist Parties are not seen as very “in” when progressives can hide among the Democrats.

But now the Constitution Party is risking wandering down the same path as the Libertarian Party has on the war with Iraq. Jim Clymer the National Chairman for the Constitution Party writes

Suddenly, with U.S. war deaths in Iraq over 2000, and no end in sight for the bloody mess we?ve helped to create in that tragic land, the gung-ho boosterism of the war hawks is losing credibility. Americans are beginning to realize that George Bush has no exit strategy and fully intends to stay in Iraq for the duration of his administration, leaving the mess he created for his successors to clean up - Cracks in White House

I’ll hand it to Jim he does talk about very serious issues such as securing our borders, judicial nominees, out of control government spending and so on that have been weaknesses of the White House under President Bush but this clap trap is ripped straight from DNC talking point memos!

“No exit strategy”? Are you serious Jim?

It’s called “win”. You move forward each day and you continue to “win”. Yes, sometimes people die. It’s called “war” Jim. Our founders fought in quite a few of them you might recall.

We don’t need another “anti-war” pseudo-right wing party in this country. We have enough of them already. Nest thing you know the Constitution party will begin to tell us that the war was all for oil and that Saddam Hussein really was a lovable little man who gave neatly wrapped gifts to all the good little children of Iraq personally on December 25th each year.

Conservatives need options. They don?t need more political parties shutting the door in their faces.
