And You Wanted To Be President, Howard?

Saying the “idea that we’re going to win the war in Iraq is an idea which is just plain wrong,” Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean predicted today that the Democratic Party will come together on a proposal to withdraw National Guard and Reserve troops immediately, and all US forces within two years. - WOAI San Antonio

It is nice to see such optimism, Mr. Dean. God forbid you look at the facts and see how well our troops are doing in Iraq.

Let me give you a few facts.

First of all, Saddam Hussein is no longer a threat to the United States, or to the world at large. That is supposed to be a good thing. Iraqi citizens can now live in the knowledge that they will not be raped, tortured, maimed or killed by Saddam or his henchman.

I know it is true that some Iraqi citizens will die in terrorist attacks and that is very unfortunate. But, sooner or later those terrorist cells will die out or be caught, just like Saddam and his sons. That is kind of what this whole “war on terror” is about.

Secondly, Iraqi citizens have been able to vote. Maybe Mr. Dean can investigate to see if any Iraqi voters were disenfranchised. Nonetheless, the Iraqis voted! They even risked their lives to do so. That is called courage. Mr. Dean might want to look that word up in a dictionary.

Another fact I’d like to point out is all the battles won by our troops. I know over 2,000 American servicemen and women have died in this war, fighting these battles. Yes, it is tragic that any of these people died. I hope they are resting in God’s Heavenly Kingdom right now.

But, these men and women did not die so Howard Dean could predict that the United States cannot win this war!

Does Howard Dean not want our troops to win the war? As long as our troops lose this war prior to the ‘08 elections, it will help to tarnish Bush’s image, which seems to be the only thing Democrats care about these days.

“I’ve seen this before in my life. This is the same situation we had in Vietnam. Everybody then kept saying, ‘just another year, just stay the course, we’ll have a victory.’ Well, we didn’t have a victory, and this policy cost the lives of an additional 25,000 troops because we were too stubborn to recognize what was happening.”

The only reason why this war is close to Vietnam is becuase people like you, Howard Dean, question everything our troops do! You compare Abu Ghraib to the My Lai massacre and cry for those poor terrorist’s civil rights. You wail and moan about how terrible our American fighting men and women are, yet make little to no mention about those same poor terrorists who behead innocent people; some, I might mention, who were there in the name of peace.

Howard Dean, you are a sad and twisted individual. You have definitely found your home being the leader of people just like you.
