What “Public” Is That, Mr. Murtha?
J.J. Jackson* | November 22, 2005
John Murtha stated:
The public turned against this war before I said it. The public is emotionally tied into finding a solution to this thing, and that’s what I hope this administration is going to find out.
I would like to know which “public” that is who told Mr. Murtha this. If the public told him this, why did he vote on the side of the 403 when it time to put his “money where his mouth is”? If the public wants to withdraw from this war, why did you not represent that sentiment? Obviously, you are the spokesperson for the public, right?
Mr. Murtha, you are a joke! I am not going to let you hide behind your war medals on this one!
Colonel Danny Bupp said it best when he asked Representative Jean Schmidt (R-OH) to convey this message:
Cowards cut and run, Marines never do.
I would have thought that Murtha, being a former Marine (a fact the media will not let you forget, by the way) would know this. Retreat is not in our creed!
As a former Marine, I know I would rather die than give up to the enemy!
I could go on and try to elaborate more on this, but Ralph Peters says it best in his opinion piece How To Lose A War written in The New York Post:
QUIT. It’s that simple. There are plenty of more complex ways to lose a war, but none as reliable as just giving up.
I cannot elaborate more on this because there is nothing more to say.
