Wait A Minute! I Thought The Border Was Secure!

World Net Daily reported on November 10, 2005 that three al-Qaida members were arrested after entering the United States through the Mexican Border.
Rep. Sue Myrick, R-NC was quoted as saying:
Our main concern is: Who’s in our state? This is a critical issue today. They just arrested, down on the border, a couple of weeks ago, three al-Qaida members who came across from Mexico into the United States.
My first question is how can three al-Qaida members enter the United States? According to this article, the border is already secure.
We have implements … to ensure that even if they get past the border, they’re going to be caught up in that net of enforcement.
That must mean that those three al-Qaida operatives are the only al-Qaida operatives who could have made it across the border. If there are any others, they would have been “caught up in that net of enforcement.”
Is that why there is an estimated 15 to 20 million illegal aliens currently in the United States? It looks like that “net of enforcement” has some holes in it. This is laughable, at best! It is horrifying in all truth.
Last year, Congressman Tom Tancredo said it best:
The chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus yesterday questioned the commitment of the nation’s border czar to track down and deport the 8 million to 12 million illegal aliens in the United States, asking whether he had “any real interest” in getting the job done.
I have to ask that same question. Does anyone who is charged with securing this nation have “any real interest”? It seems to me that these people are more concerned with giving the mere impression that something is being done when in fact we are no more safe now than we were before September 11, 2001.
I am not going to doubt the veracity of Ms. Myrick’s claim, although she seems to be the only person to have mentioned anything about this. I am going to say that this news should scare if not terrify the American public.
If three al-Qaida operatives were arrested near the United States/Mexico border, how many crossed who were not apprehended? My faith in that “net of enforcement” is not all that great. Any politician can say that the border is secure, but facts prove otherwise.
Anyone who has watched more than sitcoms on T.V. these days knows that our nation’s borders are extremely pourous. It only stands to reason that if a Mexican national can make it across the border undetected and thus go to further points north, someone who is not from Mexico can do the same. Unless, of course, that “net of enforcement” is really strong if it’s a terrorist.
Let us not forget that it only took nineteen al-Qaida operatives to kill over three thousand of our fellow beloved American brothers and sisters.
Why hasn’t Ms. Myrick’s statements been publicized by anyone else other than World Net Daily? This is not to say that World Net Daily is not a reputable organization. I have a lot of respect for them. What I am wondering is why no other media has taken this bit of information and ran with it? It could easily be used against the media’s main enemy, President Bush.
When is the American government going to wake up? When is America going to wake up.
It has been over four years since we realized our vulnerability. What has changed? Maybe we’ll be less dead now with that “net of enforcement.”
