Clinton/Napolitano ‘08?
J.J. Jackson* | November 14, 2005
Tucson, Arizona is the home of KNST, 790 AM. I try to listen to this station as often as possible, especially during the 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. program, with its local host Dave Skyler.
When I listened to Mr. Skyler?s show on Monday, November 14, 2005, I learned that Time Magazine named Janet Napolitiano one of the top five governors of the United States. Mind you, this is the same Time Magazine that tried to paint a pretty picture of Yasser Arafat.
No, I am not trying to compare Ms. Napolitano to Yasser Arafat. What I am doing, though, is showing that transparency of this whole thing and how obvious it should all be.
In the article from Time Magazine about Janet Napolitano looks like she is really working hard with regards to illegal immigration and the plague that has spread across Arizona.
The one issue Republicans think they can use against the popular Napolitano is illegal immigration, because the huge number of border crossings have left many Arizonans feeling overwhelmed and powerless. Her critics claim she came to the problem late, but she seems to have navigated it deftly. Last November angry voters passed Proposition 200, which in part provides that undocumented aliens receive no state welfare benefits that they are not entitled to. Napolitano opposed it, as well as several bills that targeted illegal immigrants.
Instead, she looked to the systems and people that make illegal immigration possible: she ordered state contractors to ensure that their employees are legal, set up an undercover unit to catch forgers of identity documents and demanded the Federal Government, which is responsible for immigration, reimburse the $217 million Arizona has spent since 2003 on imprisoning undocumented aliens convicted of crimes. In mid-August she declared a state of emergency in Arizona to direct more funds to protecting border areas from illegal crossings.1
Of course, Time Magazine fails to mention that Arizona’s governor who opposed the voters? will when she opposed Proposition 200, a bill so terrible it requires that people show their citizenship before voting. How terrible!
So while Janet has no problem with illegal aliens voting for her, she does not like them entering the United States through Arizona. Well, that is at least the impression she gives. In an Arizona Republic article dated August 16, 2005, Napolitano ?criticized the federal government for ?moving too slow? on border security, evolving into a hot-button, election-year issue in Arizona and across the country.?2
Pardon me for being a skeptic and seriously doubting Napolitano?s sincerity. Napolitano declared this state of emergency shortly after one of Clinton?s cronies, Bill Richardson.3
Since both Napolitano and Richardson are governors of border states, it appears as though maybe they are doing their jobs, for once. However, both Napolitano and Richardson are politicians and Democrats: both traits of untrustworthy people.
The ringleader of the Democratic Party, none other than Hillary Clinton, has tried to position herself as tough on illegal immigration. Mr. Charles Hurt wrote in the Washington Times, ?Mrs. Clinton ? who is tagged as a liberal because of her plan for nationalized health care and various remarks during her husband’s presidency ? is taking an increasingly vocal and hard-line stance on an issue that ranks among the highest concerns for voters, particularly Republicans.?4 (emphasis added)
Top this off with Sheila Jackson-Lee and H.R. 4044 and it appears that the Democrats are what I like to call, ?out border-hawking? the Republicans.
I am posting a warning to the American people right now: do not be fooled by these actions! Yes, the Democrats are positioning themselves as tough on illegal immigration. Just like the Republicans, though, they are doing nothing. They will do nothing even if they are elected.
That does not matter to Hillary. If she is voted into office, she has accomplished her goal. She is no idiot, but she is expecting Americans to be. She is expecting us to have the attention span of someone off his or her school-prescribed Ritalin.
What does Napolitano have to do with all of this? Well think about it. Two Democrats tough on immigration who are also females? To the Democrats, it?s a no-brainer. Those of us who do not vote for them are going to be chauvinist pigs.
If the Republicans choose to nominate Condoleeza Rice, they will only be doing so to try to ?out-minority? the Democrats.
Americans need to send the message to politicians on both sides that we are not buying into their game anymore. If you want what is good for America, pay attention! Realize what is happening.
If Hillary wins in ?08, may God have mercy on us all!
