It always amazes me how people rush to say something in hopes to be the first and THEN hope and pray the evidence backs them up. Remember the claims of 10,000 dead in New Orleans alone after Katrina? Remember the left salivating in hopes that the numbers were so high that they could try and nail President Bush as reason?
Well, aside from a general consensus that it was LOCAL officials that botched the evacuation and emergency efforts in the Big Easy now we have a somewhat final body count - 1,003 bodies. That is 1,003 bodies in ALL of Louisianna not just New Orleans too. Most are from New Orleans I am sure.
But what have we learned? We learned not to believe the hype. Maybe we should gather facts first and then speak hmm?
As an aside, I was watching a special with R. Lee Ermey on the History channel about the tragedy in New Orleans. He was walking around some of th flooded neighborhoods and low and behold there were lots of cars there. Weren’t we told that many of those trapped in the flood zone didn’t have a way to get out and didn’t have cars?
