To Dispense Or Not To Dispense?

The federal government has no authority to tell pharmacists that they cannot refuse to dispense birth control pill. We have to agree on that point. If you believe otherwise, come back after you have found such power in the Constitution and we will talk further. But don?t strain your brain too hard. No such power exists. So we have to agree on that point.
However since all powers not granted to the federal government are retained by the States and the people then technically, yes, the States can make a law about what pharmacists must do. The real question however is should they?
There is now such a rule in Illinois which has some pharmacists trying to defend their right to refuse to perform a service they find morally objectionable. “A new rule in Illinois ? the first of its kind in the United States ? tells pharmacists that if they’re in the business of selling contraceptives, they must fill all contraceptive prescriptions, including those for so-called “morning-after” birth-control pills.” - FOX News
So let’s answer the question. Should government - even though they technically can - tell private businesses that they MUST dispense birth control? Absolutely not. The reason is that there is no compelling reason to force a pharmacist to do this.
There is no public good served, nor is the life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness among other unalienable rights of the person denied or infringed upon by the pharmacist. There is no “right” to birth control. Again, you can argue with me on that however I ask that you specifically point to it if you wish to do that.
Birth control cannot be a right because rights are immutable and undeniable. But before birth control was invented there was no birth control. Which means that everyone prior to the invention of birth control was having their rights infringed. Huh? If that confused you then good. It was meant to be confusing to illustrate how absurd this new rule in Illinois is.
You want birth control and pharmacy A wont sell it to you? Go to pharmacy B. Pharmacy B won?t sell to you? Go to pharmacy C. No pharmacy will sell you birth control? Open your own pharmacy!
That’s called freedom and liberty my friends. But today we sadly live in a country where too many people turn to the government for help in dealing with things that just in their mind aren’t right or are infringing upon imaginary rights that they have dreamt up. And this is just the absolute latest in a long string of government over reaches all because someone without the desire to solve their own problems ran kicking and screaming to big daddy government crying for them to do something.

On topic and intelligent comments are always welcome as are humorous observations. But liberal talking points with no basis in reality, off topic comments, spam and advertisements are not. Even though you may think you are an intelligent liberal, you probably are not.
