RSSI Actually Agree With This Peace Weenie

Bob Flisser who organized one of the Cindy Sheehan peace vigil and support rallies was handcuffed and arrested in New Jersey. His crime? He didn’t have a permit.
I’m sorry, but “parade permits” have always bothered me. If a group of people want to get together and peaceably assemble you have to let them. It’s right in the Constitution “the right of the people peaceably to assemble” shall not be prohibited by Congress and is made to apply to the States by Amendment 14 which says ” No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States”.
Apparently however many of our politicians have found ways to actually prevent peacable assembly of citizens by requiring “permits” that must be applied for in advance. Somehow that doesn’t seem to jive with not prohibiting people peaceably assembling.
Don’t apply in time? Too bad … no first Amendment Rights for you apparently.
As long as the protest was peaceful and they were not infringing on the rights of others by blocking traffic or harassing and assaulting other people there is not a reason to prevent them from gathering even if they did it for truly ignorant reasons.
