Cindy Sheehan - Portrait Of the Anti-War Left
J.J. Jackson* | August 11, 2005
To listen to left wingers talk (and I get the chance to since I work for a radio station that has two HUGE libs on the air) Cindy Sheehan, mother of a fallen Marine, is a portrait of courage and a strong fighter against an unjust war. What’s more, listen to the progressive left long enough and you’ll hear about how all she wants to do is meet with President George Bush and talk about this horrible war in Iraq.
Of course, rarely do you hear mention of how she has already met with the President and for some reason now warrants a second meeting to show what she claims are her true feelings. You might not also hear that Sheehan’s family doesn’t take too kindly to her actions either. Matt Drudge reports the following email:
“Our family has been so distressed by the recent activities of Cindy we are breaking our silence and we have collectively written a statement for release. Feel free to distribute it as you wish. Thanks ? CherieIn response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue: Sheehan Family Statement:
The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the expense of her son’s good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.
Sincerely,
Casey Sheehan’s grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.”
Which doesn’t paint dear old Cindy in a very positive picture and certainly showing that she does not speak for them.
Now, there is no way to know how many people are actually involved in this letter, but since the words are plural we can safely assume two for each — that is a minimum of 8. So, right now in the Sheehan family it is 8 to 1 for the President. But no — the left still looks only at the 1; Cindy Sheehan.
And it gets worse too. The left is criticizing actions by “right wing” extremists and “nutballs” as they like to call us that would dare to drive by poor Cindy and show their support in droves for the President and even attempt to perhaps start a counter protest. Yup — that’s right — Cindy’s “freedom of speech” is ok but don’t say something that she or others on the left don’t want to hear. No no — that is just “wrong” in their eyes.
Then you have idiotic reporterettes like Angela Brown of the Associated Press saying things like ?Casey joined the Army in 2000, never imagining he would see combat.? Uh, Angela, if that is true then Casey was a moron. But since our Army generally doesn?t take morons because they can?t shoot straight or follow simple directions we are only left to realize that you are the one that lacks mental capacity here and NOT Casey.
Will they ever learn? We can only hope not! Because it is hilarious to watch them squirm as they accuse the ?right wing? of ?smearing? this poor, duped, useful idiot who does nothing but desecrate the memory of her son which she once claimed to respect.
