229 years ago our founding fathers set us on a path that few throught would prove itself right. July 4th, 1776 was not a holiday to them. It was not a day off from work. It certainly wasn’t a day to relax.

For many Americans today however those later two things are all this day has become however. Backyard BBQs and time with family and fireworks are important but we would not have any of that on this day if a few men did not pledge their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to each other and to a nation that was yet to be born.

Take some time today and remember what this day is really about. Educate your children and even your friends and older family members too. Because if we do not celebrate why we have this holiday called the 4th of July — Independence Day — eventually we will forget why.

On topic and intelligent comments are always welcome as are humorous observations. But liberal talking points with no basis in reality, off topic comments, spam and advertisements are not. Even though you may think you are an intelligent liberal, you probably are not. Keep this in mind as trolling is prohibited and will result in your comments not being approved and comments informing us how much we are a bunch of idiots because you say we are or espousing hate towards the truth are often moved directly to the official “I Hate You/You’re An Idiot” thread. Save us all the time and post there directly if you have a comment that would meet those criteria. Commenters reserve the right to mock claims about how liberal ideas, such as higher taxes, actually work and how conservative and right wingers, are NAZIs, racists, sexists, etc. and will do so with great regularity.
