RSSLeft Wing Still After The EVIL Boy Scouts

A federal judge has ruled the Pentagon can no longer spend millions in government money to ready a Virginia military base for a national Boy Scout event typically held every four years, the American Civil Liberties Union announced Thursday. Fox News
The reason for the ruling is the 1999 ruling in a case brought by the ACLU. That case resulted in a ruling prohibiting Department of Defense funding to the scouts because *gasp* they swear to do their duty to God.
It’s the lastest in a line of attacks by those that still, after all these years, do not understand what the first amendment says and means. Take Rev. Eugene Walker who according to Fox News is one of the plaintiffs. He said “This issue is not about the Boy Scouts at all. It’s about government funding for religious purposes. It’s about separation”.
Once again, the first amendment says: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. James Madison who proposed the amendment said: “The civil rights of none shall be abridged on account of religious belief or worship, nor shall any national religion be established”.
Is it sinking in yet? So tell me again Mr. Walker what religion is being established by supporting the Jamboree? Tell me again whose religious freedom is being infringed by this event?
It’s truely a shame that someone that should be well educated on the issues for which he speaks like Mr. Walker cannot answer either of those two questions. It’s a shame that he has been corrupted by the American left that is still trying to drive religion from the public square.
So I repeat to Mr. Walker and all the other pseudo intellectuals that think they know of what they are talking the words of President George Washington who made the following PUBLIC display of his support of religion: “Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the Providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor, and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint committee requested me to commend to the people of United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness, now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next, to be devoted to the service of that great and glorious Being, Who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or will be.” (October 3, 1789)
Learn your history people. You might just be surprised with what is contained in the words of the past. And you’ll be a little smarter when you open your mouths.
The good news is that the Defense Department and the Boy Scouts are not done with this. Bob Bork, council for the Boy Scouts said “We are confident that an appeal to the 7th Circuit will return everything to the status quo”.
Carry on and defeat those that fear teaching our children “to do (their) best to do their duty to God and (their) country” and to “to help other people at all times”. Yeah. Those are REALLY bad things aren’t they?
