Apparently They Have Decided “NAZI” Is Not An Effective Tactic

In an unusual move the left has apparently decided to abandon its typical “XXXX is a NAZI!” rhetoric. Their new tactic? Well in case you missed it this new tactic is to attack they way people dress. But then again when you obsessed with the one thing that people could care the least about and forced to churn out column after column on these least cared about topics like Robin Givhan is I guess it is only natural.

Some of the more low lights of her recent piece on Nominee John Roberts:

“His wife and children stood before the cameras, groomed and glossy in pastel hues — like a trio of Easter eggs, a handful of Jelly Bellies, three little Necco wafers.”

I bears noting that this is the picture of Roberts and his family at the announcement press conference (from the Post’s website)

Now tell me. What is wrong with the way they are dressed? Oh, that’s right … Ms. Roberts is not sporting a hot pink tank top with the word “slut” scrolled across the chest area! FORGIVE ME!

“There was tow-headed Jack — having freed himself from the controlling grip of his mother”

Yes … yes … those “conservatives” are so “controlling” … do not trust this country to them! Let liberals run the country so they can take your land and give it to a developer!

“The wife wore a strawberry-pink tweed suit with taupe pumps and pearls, which alone would not have been particularly remarkable, but alongside the nostalgic costuming of the children, the overall effect was of self-consciously crafted perfection.”

Here’s the liberal “we know what you are thinking” psychobabble again! Conservatives can’t just be who they are. They aren’t “real people”. They only put on a “self-consciously crafted” image to fool us into supporting them.

“In a time when most children are dressed in Gap Kids and retailers of similar price-point and modernity, the parents put young master Jack in an ensemble that calls to mind John F. “John-John” Kennedy Jr.”

In other words “HEY! Kennedy is OUR icon! GIVE HIM BACK!”

“These clothes are Old World, old money and a cut above the light-up/shoe-buying hoi polloi.”

Translation: “They are not one of us! They are the EVIL RICH!”

“In their attire, there was nothing too informal; there was nothing immodest. There was only the feeling that, in the desire to be appropriate and respectful of history, the children had been costumed in it.”

Translation: “CHILD ABUSERS! CALL THE POLICE! THE ROBERTS ARE ABUSING THEIR CHILDREN!”

Dear God, give me a break. I almost prefer the “YOU’RE A NAZI” BS to this self-important tripe by someone unable to speak on issues more substantive than someone’s clothes!
