ACLU Still Trying to Make Evolution “Law”
J.J. Jackson* | July 17, 2005 |
When biology is taught to our students in school, Darwin’s Theory of Evolution is used to explain life on Earth. And the ACLU keeps fighting to make sure that the Theory of Evolution is all that ever gets not only taught but ever even mentioned.
When the Dover Area School District issued and read a one minute statement saying that intelligent design was an alternative explanation to Darwin’s theory the ACLU went into full fledged panic, filing suit against the school district. According to the Kansas City Star “Attorneys argue that the teaching of intelligent design in public schools violates the separation of church and state.”
You know, the same old tired and hackneyed argument that there is somewhere in the Constitution a “separation of Church and State”. But once again, the ACLU misses the mark in an attempt to push their flawed agenda of removing God from the public square. George Washington, as President of these United States issued the following public statement once
“Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the Providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor, and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint committee requested me to commend to the people of United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness, now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next, to be devoted to the service of that great and glorious Being, Who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or will be.” - THE FIRST THANKSGIVING PROCLAMATION - OCTOBER 3, 1789
Knowing this it is preetty hard for the ACLU to argue with a straight face that mentioning and recognizing God and God’s work somehow violates the frist amendment.
What they are actually doing by preventing the mention of God veiled in the false pretense of protecting this separation of church and state is actually instituting Atheism as the official and government sanctioned religion of the United States.
“Religion” does not require the belief in a Deity or deities. It does not require a church of brick and mortar to be constructed for people to worship at. All it requires is that on has “a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith” (Webster’s Online Dictionary). And believe me. Those that wish to wipe God from the public life of Americans are very faithful to their belief that there is no God.
The Dover Area School District is receiving help from the Thomas More Law Center to fight this latest intrusion into our liberties as citizen. And may God Almighty bless them all.
As an aside, my personal beliefs on the whole Creationism vs. Evolutionism debate is lead by zealots on both sides of the argument that refuse to accept anything except their own narrow views. I personally believe that God created everything and that ?evolution? does occur because God created that when he created everything else. He created all ?science? and all things that happen because He willed it to.

On topic and intelligent comments are always welcome as are humorous observations. But liberal talking points with no basis in reality, off topic comments, spam and advertisements are not. Even though you may think you are an intelligent liberal, you probably are not. Keep this in mind as trolling is prohibited and will result in your comments not being approved and comments informing us how much we are a bunch of idiots because you say we are or espousing hate towards the truth are often moved directly to the official “I Hate You/You’re An Idiot” thread. Save us all the time and post there directly if you have a comment that would meet those criteria. Commenters reserve the right to mock claims about how liberal ideas, such as higher taxes, actually work and how conservative and right wingers, are NAZIs, racists, sexists, etc. and will do so with great regularity.
