Why On Earth Would We Want People To Be Responsible?

The Washington Times reports today that there is a renewed call being put out for overhauling the voting process in America. According to the Times, the report calls for precinct level voting to be replaced by “‘vote centers,’ where people could cast ballots over a period of weeks.” The brainiac that came up with this idea is Larimer County, Colo., Clerk Scott Doyle who said “It’s the way America lives. Why shouldn’t America vote that way?”

Yeah. Perhaps he’s right. We should extend voting to a period of weeks because maybe it is the way some Americans live; irresponsible and unmotivated.

Give me a break. There is not one single stinking American that cannot get to the polls on election day especially when we have absentee ballots for CHRIST’S SAKE! How lazy does this genius think the vast majority of American’s are? And why on Earth would we want to extend the time to vote to weeks from a single day? So that unmotivated and unpatriotic Americans that cannot find it in their hearts to meander to the polls on election day can go simply when they feel like it?

Gee. That’s a great idea there Mr. Doyle. Make it so Americans can be even LESS responsible. I am sure THAT will solve the problem! Here’s what I say, if you are too lazy to get your butt out of bed to drag yourself to the polls one day out of the year then you are not an American and you don’t deserve the right to vote.
