This Is What Happens When Your Tent is Too Big

I have no real problem with those that are against the Iraq War. . I think that they are naive, but naivete is not something to get overly upset about. What I do have a real problem with is when those that are against what President Bush did in Iraq are misinformed. Take Republican Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina — PLEASE!
“When I look at the number of men and women who have been killed - it’s almost 1,700 now, in addition to close to 12,000 have been severely wounded - and I just feel that the reason of going in for weapons of mass destruction, the ability of the Iraqis to make a nuclear weapon, that’s all been proven that it was never there,”
I guess he has been hanging around at the local chapter of MoveOn.org to be parroting this old line.
Again, I remind everyone, especially those on the political left, that Weapons of Mass Destruction were NOT the main reason for going into Iraq and taking out Saddam Hussein. The main reason was (which included WMDs) that he violated UN mandates. And I also remind those on the political left that it was Bill Clinton, President Slick Willy himself, that made regime change in Iraq a primary goal with the Iraqi Liberation Act of 1998.
Let’s go over this one more time for those that are a little slow on this issue. The reasons for taking out Saddam Hussein were:
1) After he invaded the sovereign nation of Kuwait and was thrown out he signed a cease fire agreement.
2) He agreed that he had certain caches of WMDs and agreed to dismantle them under UN supervision.
3) He did not cooperate with the agreed cease fire agreement and continually engaged United States aircraft patrolling no-fly zones.
4) He refused to allow the UN inspectors unfettered access to sites to document that he had indeed dismantled his WMD programs
5) He also tried to assassinate George Bush Sr.
6) He tortured, raped and killed many of his own citizens and filled mass graves with their corpses
7) He accepted the terms of the Oil-for-Food program and then violated the terms
The United Nations gave him ONE final chance to comply or face serious consequences
Now, I know that this is hard for some people to understand because they don’t believe that they themselves should be held to any contracts that they enter into either. But this is real life. When you fail to live up to your mortgage the bank comes and takes your house. When you fail to live up to a cease fire agreement to save your own bacon it means that the war (which Saddam Hussein started) is back on and we finish the job.
There is only ONE legitimate exit strategy for Iraq — to win by defeating the terrorists.

On topic and intelligent comments are always welcome as are humorous observations. But liberal talking points with no basis in reality, off topic comments, spam and advertisements are not. Even though you may think you are an intelligent liberal, you probably are not. Keep this in mind as trolling is prohibited and will result in your comments not being approved and comments informing us how much we are a bunch of idiots because you say we are or espousing hate towards the truth are often moved directly to the official “I Hate You/You’re An Idiot” thread. Save us all the time and post there directly if you have a comment that would meet those criteria. Commenters reserve the right to mock claims about how liberal ideas, such as higher taxes, actually work and how conservative and right wingers, are NAZIs, racists, sexists, etc. and will do so with great regularity.
