D-Day

June 6, 1944, allied solders stormed the beaches of Normandy in France, a position that was held by the ruthless NAZI regime under the command of Adolf Hitler. Many men never left that beach by themselves. The dead were buried upon foreign soil as the allied forces advanced and pushed back the NAZI war machine. The total number lost may never be completely known.

These men, every last one of them, that fell during that assault died for something. They died for honor, for country and dare I say for God as they recognized what was pure evil and vowed to fight against it. The debt of these heroes can never be repaid except by honoring what they sacrificed for. The only price that makes their loss even remotely bearable is the homage that those that have come since have paid by being good men and women. And homage that they should dedicate their lives to the liberty which was protected that day by faceless men storming off boats in choppy seas under a hail of gunfire.

You and I will never meet those men that gave to us their lives for our freedom. But that does not mean that on this day we should not thank each and every one of them for the sacrifice they made. That does not mean that they are not watching over us from a better place. Because they are. And their spirit is still strong in all of us that carry on in their memory to fight injustice and to right wrong. And I hope that each and every one of you will do just that; fight injustice and right the wrongs in you own way. Because to do less than that is to dishonor those that came before us and had their lives taken not only from society, but from their families and from their children by an evil that will return again one day. And to be true to their memories, we must all be willing to do what they have done and sacrifice.

We must all be willing to put ourselves on the line in the face of evil even if that means that our own lives shall be forfeit. Because our forfeit will serve to pass the ball to the next generation and our message should be to take it as far as you can before passing it on to the next. Because if we do not advance evil will triumph. And our children and our children’s children will be doomed to a life overshadowed by evil.

Do not do the right thing for yourself. Do the right thing for the children. Just like those on the beaches of Normandy did — June 6, 1944.

On topic and intelligent comments are always welcome as are humorous observations. But liberal talking points with no basis in reality, off topic comments, spam and advertisements are not. Even though you may think you are an intelligent liberal, you probably are not. Keep this in mind as trolling is prohibited and will result in your comments not being approved and comments informing us how much we are a bunch of idiots because you say we are or espousing hate towards the truth are often moved directly to the official “I Hate You/You’re An Idiot” thread. Save us all the time and post there directly if you have a comment that would meet those criteria. Commenters reserve the right to mock claims about how liberal ideas, such as higher taxes, actually work and how conservative and right wingers, are NAZIs, racists, sexists, etc. and will do so with great regularity.
