Howard Dean; Blithering Idiot Savant
J.J. Jackson* | May 23, 2005
Howard Dean is like a needle skipping broken record and I really wish that someone would kick him squarely in the shin to get that needle moved forward. While on Meet the Press this weekend, Dean did however admit finally that Tom DeLay has not been convicted of any crime yet despite previous tirades from the Party Chairman that DeLay should be in jail. But he also justified his previous calls for DeLay?s head by saying ?I think there is a reasonable chance that this may end up in jail?. Dean still however hasn?t really elaborated on what crime DeLay committed.
When confronted by Russert about previous comments by Dean about not wanting to pass judgment prematurely on Osama bin Laden because we all know there are still doubts about if Al Qeada was really involved in 9/11 (*gag*) during his failed Presidential run, Dean concluded ?I don?t think I am prejudging [DeLay].? But again, Dean really didn?t elaborate on the actual ?crime? committed which probably wasn?t quite as bad as say, inspiring radical Jihadi?s to fly two planes into the World Trade Center, another into the Pentagon and yet one more into a field in Pennsylvania and kill a couple thousand people.
But you know, he may wind up being right based on information that is not available at this time. However based on the evidence at hand DeLay hasn?t committed a crime. Not like, say, Senator Jim McDermott who actually has been found guilty of a crime. But then again, he?s one of Dean?s boys so you are not going to hear Dean calling for McDermott?s head any time soon. After all Dean is more interested in attack Republicans than actually dealing with the truth.
Then continuing with his ?the Evil Republicans want to rape your grandmother and fight wars to kill brown people? theme, Dean was caught in an awkward moment. He again reasserted that the ?Evil Republicans? lied about weapons of mass destruction as a reason to go to war with Iraq. However Dean himself admitted, right in front of America, that they were ?probably there?.
?I said I thought that they were probably there,? Dean said. There is that weasel word ?probably?. To Dean, he thinks that is his out incase he turns out to be right or wrong. If weapons are never ever, ever found he says, ?Well, I only said probably. I never said for sure they were there.? If the weapons later turn up in the Bacca Valley he then says, ?See, I said they were probably there and I was right!? But what it really illustrates is that Howard Dean is able to avoid the question of what would he have done if he had been in the White House. He is allowed the luxury of ?maybes? and ?might haves? simply because he doesn?t have to make a decision.
And remember, this is all in the context that it is Republicans lie to the American people. Hey Mr. ?Scream?, maybe your should watch out for the ?liars? then in your own party like Carl Levin, Democrat from Michigan who said with regards to Iraq?s Weapons of Mass Destruction ?I am circulating among our Senate colleagues a letter to President Clinton, urging him, in consultation with Congress, consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take effective actions, including if appropriate, the use of air strikes, to respond to the Iraqi threat.? Or how about Nancy Pelosi, Liberal Democrat extraordinaire ?Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process.?? Or maybe former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright who said ?There has never been an embargo against food and medicine. It’s just that Hussein has just not chosen to spend his money on that. Instead, he has chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction, and palaces for his cronies.??
See Mr. ?Scream?, the problem for you is that all of those statements and many more were made when President Clinton controlled the White House and had his boys in charge. Which means you can no longer say that it is the ?Republicans? that are lying to the American people. Well, you can, but only if you further admit that President Clinton and liberal Democrats lied to the American people as well.
But you?ll never admit to the truth. Because you would rather lie than tell the truth. And the truth is that Weapons of Mass Destruction were believed to have existed in Iraq by more than just the ?evil? Republicans. American Democrats, the British, the French, the United Nations, and so on all had intelligence saying they were there. So either we all lied, we were all ?mistaken?, or we were all correct.
I personally believe in the latter. After all, it took more than a year to move against Saddam Hussein and that is a heck of a lot of time to move the actual weapons themselves.
But listening to Howard Dean, the only impression you get is that it is Republicans that are ?liars?, ?cheats? and ?crooks?. Way to spin Howard. But maybe your should stop for a couple minutes before you get too dizzy and fall down.
